I would be willing to bet that there are quite a few "Blue Blood" fans on the forum. I am a big fan of this program. I think the characters are well done, and they have done a great job of letting us get to know them. But, I recently realized something that I thought was pretty funny.

When my stepfather passed away earlier this year, he was 89 years old, and a Blue Blood fan. Last week, I was thinking about him and his age and the Blue Blood program. All of a sudden, I started thinking (very dangerous :D) and decided to do some checking. I did a little online searching and found out that Tom Selleck who plays Frank Reagan is currently 77 years old. Len Cariou who plays Henry Reagan, Frank Reagan's father is currently 82 years old!!

I knew Selleck was a good bit older than me (15 years), and as I said earlier, my stepfather was 89, so I was thinking, holy mackerel, that Len Cariou looks really good for his age.....figuring he must be about 97+ years old. But, I guess when you have a child at 5 years old, it's easy to look young having grandkids 50+ years old!:D:rolleyes:

Boy, I got WAY TO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS!!

Iove the show, but we have kinda dropped off of it of late.. of Course Danny Reagan must be up to about 100 shootings so far...he would likely be riding a desk if he stayed employed...

Good Show, watch it every time I can, You are right Danny.I just took out my S&Wmodel17 ,22 long rifle for some air

I'll watch it once in a while, just to see some hometown scenery. I miss watching the Sopranos, to hear some proper slang and family interpersonal communication.

Blue Bloods has been around for so long that a degree of sameness from episode to episode has crept in. All the possible different plots have been used up. That happens to all long-running series. But Tom still does a good job peddling reverse mortgages.

My late lady friend and I always watched that show. Have not seen it since she passed.

I've never watched it, but I understand Selleck's character carries an inherited Fitz Special Colt. Maybe I should give it a try.

When I lived in Brooklyn, our street would get closed down for filming all the time.

Never watched the show though.

A real hot head guy like Danny Reagan would probably never make it to detective in the real world. He's a walking talking breathing lawsuit.

I still like the show though. I mean, I realize it's make believe and not a NYPD documentary.

Us too!!

My wife and I are Blue Bloods fans for sure. We enjoy the story lines, and especially appreciate the dinner table scenes and the faith in our creator.
We are long time Tom Selleck fans. My sister was married to a guy (Kirk) who looked enough like him that a flight attendant on a transatlantic flight mistook him for Selleck. A prince of a man, career Army Medical Corp, 2 tour Nam Vet....Agent Orange put him in an early grave after much suffering. We occasionally wipe away a tear when Commisioner Reagan does the right thing even in the worst circumstances, as I witnessed Kirk do so often.

While I cringe here and there, they do-mostly-tell good people stories. They also raise some points about the job(s) that many folks don't think about.

There's a channel doing reruns late at night that feels obliged to issue warnings that content might not be suitable for some and bleep out some words here and there. Given the time slot, I have to wonder why.

It was never close to NYPD Blue good, but Blue Blood's immature, arrogant, and volatile detective character ruined an otherwise pretty decent show. A few episodes were enough to tell he wasn't going to grow up.

I'm a Fan

I'm a fan of Blue Bloods, and it's cast, especially Tom Selleck, and his slightly passive style of acting. Consequently, I have followed, and enjoyed the Blue Bloods show from its start.

There are characters to suit everyone's fancy, and I'm satisfied with 'em all.

I much prefer Horatio Alger type shows, to blood & guts shows, although Blue Bloods has a bit of that, also, to suit everyone's tastes.

Some Critics much prefer the swashbuckling acting of some star actors, past and present, and belittle Tom Selleck, especially. I'd like those critics to indicate an actor, of any era, that has the precisely controlled facial expressions, that Tom Selleck has, that's needed to portray his role on the Blue Bloods show.

If I had a crow to pick with Tom Selleck, it would be, his, Hawking reverse mortgages. While on the subject, is there anybody that'll truthfully say that they'd turn down the chance to line their pockets, if given the same chance, given Tom Selleck?

Just as everyone has a fanny, they also have an opinion. This is my opinion.

Say what you will about reverse mortgages, but my 94 year old mother who had to live on $1000 a month social security would have long since had to give up her home if not for a reverse mortgage. Yeah, the bank will own the house when she goes...but she got to keep it 15 years longer that she would have and gets to keep it untill she dies..and none of her kids need any money from her estate..

You are so right

He sure couldn't get away with his antics in today's NYC.

The wife and I watch the show and like it but agree that "Danny" is way over the line and not to be taken too seriously.

I do like the emphasis on family and the frequent (and maybe at times tedious) talk about doing "the right thing." Like many folks, I've been trying all my life, with only very partial success, to answer that question and then act on it.

As far as Selleck goes, I think he is and always has been an excellent but under rated actor.
