I’m sure this has up before. My niece has asked me to make a holster for her Glock 23. The problem is that I don’t own a Glock 23 or it’s blue (dummy) counterpart. Does anyone know of a good source where the prices are reasonable? Thanks.

If she lives close by, another option might be using her gun, and wrapping it in Saran Wrap to protect the finish.

Excellent advice! The reason real pistols were avoided by 'real' holster companies was that powerful presses, with rubber pads inside them, were used. This process crushes a real pistol such as a 1911 so this is more the reason that aluminium castings became standardized in the bigger gunleather factories, than simply avoiding real guns.

But expecting that one will be hand molding (it's not correctly called 'boning') using something like a plastic paint brush handle, then the saran wrap will do the trick to protect the pistol (wet veg leather will have a STRONG reaction to ferrous metals and then do lots of harm to both metal and leather while they're in contact).

More about hand molding in another thread that's running; then I'll return to my self-imposed exile from posting here.
