I have never been able to use any sort of bluing to anything like good effect. The stuff never worked for me no matter what kind or how I used it, never! Tonight I decided to try some Brownell's Oxpho Blue on the barrel of one of my revolvers that the blueing had gotten pretty thin on, I figured if it didn't work it would not matter. I prepared the metal with some gun cleaner I had left over from a Blue Wonder kit. Then I degreased it with some 91% alcohol. I used some 0000 steel wool to apply the stuff and after I polished with Renaissance wax, The thing looks great! You could have nocked me over with a feather! I know it's only cold blue, but it sure looks a lot better. It probably won't ever work again. Go figure.........
