BMT Moon Clip Loader

Being an owner of a 625-3 I'd like to know from owners of the BMT tool if you feel it's worth the price over the other loaders out there ?
Also why are the TK Custom moon clips so much more money than the Ranch or Revolver Supply clips ? Are they that much better ?

I'm very happy with it. Multiple collets available. It moons and demoons easily and quickly. There are all manner of DIY solutions but none worth the effort as far as I'm concerned.

The BMT looks pretty good but at three times the price.

I own the BMT tool for .45 acp. It's exactly what I needed, given I've got arthritic hands & fingers that don't work as they're supposed to. I can load and unload in just seconds, with NO pain, stress or frustration.

Is it worth the price they're asking? For me, yes. For others? I can't answer. I can say that it's very well made and works exactly as it's supposed to, every time I use it. I have and used other tools, but none of them work as simply and effortlessly as the BMT tool.

No, I have no association with them... Just a happy customer with hands that don't work very well.

Yes, the BMT is the fastest and easiest loader I have ever used. I have them in 45 ACP, 357/38 eight shot and 357/38 five shot. Well worth the money. I am the chief firearms instructor for my agency. Sometimes I shoot 300-500 rounds in a day. If you only shoot 50 at a time, the screwdriver type or the Calufornia type work very well, they are just slower. TK clips come in different thicknesses for different brands of ammo. They are nice if shooting 357 due to the variations in the tiny groove by the rim. Ranch products work fine in 45 ACP since the extraction groove is so much larger. I carry one of those Wilson combat unloaders on my keychain.

I also have the one from "mooncliptool.com." It works great for 45 acp, 10mm/40, and .357. Just purchase the separate collets and you are good to go. You'll be amazed at how quickly you can load up some clips.

After having two other brands of Mooners/demooners The BMT is without a doubt the best one I have ever seen. It is fast and easy. Might be a little spendy but so were both my 25-2's.

Life is too sort to use crappy equipment.

Just bought the demooner from Dillon ...not sure if they just sell it or make it?

I just trust the name, so hopefully it will be good.

After watching the BMT in action, I'd concede it's a better/faster design. The high price was the only thing that stopped me.

Should have the demooner in a day or two. Hopefully, well made and will work fine for casual shooting.

I have a BMT mooner for both my 627 and my 610. If I had another gun that used moonclips, I'd buy a BMT tool for that cal/gun as well. While a little pricey, it is worth the cost. Remember, the BMT tool fills and empties the moonclips, thereby covering the cost of 2 separate tools.

The Hearthco moonclips cost more because they are manufactured via the EDM process which holds much tighter tolerances than the stamped moonclips supplied by others. For an 8 shot 38/357 revolver the Hearthco moonclips hold the rounds tighter, thereby providing a quicker reload. If you are a top level shooter, the time saved by a quicker reload may be worth the extra cost to you. I'm a C class ICORE shooter, the time saved on the reloads doesn't make up for my slow shooting style, therefore the Ranch Products moonclips meet my needs and budget just fine.

The .45 ACP loads much quicker than the 8 shot 38. Most competitive shooters will tell you that the Hearthco moonclips don't provide the same advantage in the 6 shot 625, since the .45 loads so easily in most any brand moonclip. The Ranch Products moonclips seem to be the go to moonclip for the .45 ACP.

I have the BMT in both .45acp and .38/.357. With arthritis it sure makes loading up (and unloading) a hundred or so moon clips a short job. The higher cost is off set in a short time by its ease of use. I've used other loaders and they are not used anymore since I have the BMT.

I just got this "remooner" the other day from Brownell's:

You can't really load all rounds at the same time; just opposite doubles, but it does make it easier and faster. I was a little dubious at first, but pretty well like it now. I also have a stripper from Brownell's. If you buy them together, it totals about $60; $44 for the mooner alone. I just wish someone made some kind of a mooner/demooner setup for half moons. They are easy to bend, no matter what you use.

I have both the Original Moon Clip Tool and a BMT. For the 625 I think the OMCT is just fine, but I prefer the screw-driver handle type de-mooner. However, for my 8-shot 627-4 the BMT is the nutz.

The 625's are easy to deal with when it comes to moons and loading and unloading them. I use my 625 for both IDPA and USPSA and have always used Ranch Product clips and they work fine. The short cartridge and heavy round-nose bullet do not demand the precision fit in the clip that some other cartridges do.

When using moon clips for .38's the cartridge has to be held more rigidly to increase reload speed. TK makes several varieties of clips dependent on the brass you are using. For anything but .45 ACP you may have to try several different brands or types of moon clips to find what works best. For your 625 - Ranch / Original and a separate demooner will work just fine.

Haven't owned any of the others so I can't compare -- but can say the BMT is exceptional an recommended.

The BMT is THE best and fastest way to load and unload moon clips. I have used it for more than a year, loaded maybe 250-300 moon clips. Very fast and easy. Never bent/damaged any moon clips.
My 25-2 is the only revolver that I have that uses moon clips. If I end up with another, I would only have the BMT tool for it, as well.
