Bodygaurd 380 problem

Thanks you all of you who have offered more info on my problem. I am going to try oiling the release pin a little more and see if that does help. I will let you know if it does or not.

Hey, this is my first post but early in the spring a local dealer received two BG380's and I bought both for my two daughters who are just learning to shoot. They are adults though... I have found that the BG's are very temperamental as to what ammo they will accept. The rounded ball ammo such as Tulammo will not seat in the chamber enough to allow the slide to close completely. Also I found some JHP that had the same problem. First time this happened my younger daughter's gun got locked up and it took over 15 minutes to get the slide open to eject the bullet. Then my other daughter had the same problem with a JHP. I think the tolerance on the chamber depth is too close. What are your opinions and ideas.

I've never shot Tulammo in my BG 380, but I've shot a variety of other ball ammo with no problems, including UMC, PMC Bronze, PPU, and some other brands I can't remember right now. Speer God Dot JHP also shoots fine.

The only time I ever had the slide lock up was when my laser screw backed out and prevented the slide from operating. Have you verified the laser screw is tight? If you find it loose, a drop of Loctite Blue on the threads will solve the problem.

I have had a BG for a few months now. I've fired about 200 rounds so far. Both ball and HP feed fine. I have even staggered HP and ball and the gun ran great.

I noticed tonight the mag would drop out with a little grip or tapping pressure on the front side of the finger grove of the mag. It only happens if the mag has 6 rounds in it. It also does not matter if there is a round in the chamber or not. Once I take it down to 5 rounds it seems to work fine.

I will need to get my extra mag and try it.

I cleaned the gun when I got home. And it seems that every since then I have to press the button to put the magazine in the gun. Is this normal?

I had the same problem initially. Also, the mag would tend to pop out now and then; I could avoid both problems by being "assertive" when I put the mag in. A good solid bump with the heel of my hand did the trick.

Now that I have a few hundred rounds through it, the problem has disappeared. I guess things just needed to loosen up a bit. I consider that to be a plus in the long run. Things that wear in a little end up fitting perfectly.

I have noticed that when I shake my friend's Ruger LCP 380, it rattles like crazy. The innards seem loose. The BG in contrast seems to be very tight. I like that.

Hello again, I tried the good solid bump techique a few times and it seemed to loosen things up again. After doing that for about 10 or 15 times the mag now goes in like it should. Maybe I just imagined there was a problem. oh well, its all good now. And I am glad because I really like this little gun. Thanks everybody for your input

Hello, I am new to this forum. It looks like a great place to be. Anyway, I have a question about my 380 Bodygaurd pistol. I have had it for a couple of months now, and have shot it a couple of time at the range. Probley around 100 rounds through it. Let me say that I think it is a great gun. Now for my question. For some reason I can not put a magazine in unless I press the magzine button first. I don't recall this happening the first time I shot at the range. After I shot about 50 rounds through it I cleaned the gun when I got home. And it seems that every since then I have to press the button to put the magazine in the gun. Is this normal? Did I just image that I did not have to do that when I first got the gun? Or is it possible I did something I should not have done when I put the gun back together after I cleaned it that could have caused this to happen? I went shooting last weekend and the gun still shoots great, but the magazine thing has me worried. I don't have this problem with my S&W sd40ve. I am worried that this problem could really cause trouble if I ever really needed to put a mag in for self defense. Any help will be greatly appreacted.

Have you got this fixed, I have the same problem

Trouble is, not all of us like revolvers. (Myself included) have no interest in them. I would just assume leave the gun at home and be unarmed if I had to carry a revolver.
