Bodyguard 2.0 Aftermarket Sights Available Sorta

Looks like XS sights are first to market, saw numerous companies a month ago gearing up. Anyway, today I saw the Bodyguard 2.0 listed on their site, went to order, not available, lol! I've been championing them as first but now they've lost my business. C'mon Night Fision, Trijicon, I've got $150 burning a hole in my wallet!

I want that vice the XS guy is using as much as the sights!!

So glad that the BG 2.0 does not have the land mine loaded spring under the back sight!!! Thanks BLLefkay for posting.

On previous XS installs I destroyed the little plastic tool they provide to tap in the sights. A 1/4 inch diameter brass rod from a hardware store became my tool of choice. With a flat filed into one or 2 sides down at the tip, it works great....and is very inexpensive. That and a Grace USA hammer makes it easy.

Great idea on the brass rod. My Home Depot has a 36" 1/4" rod for $15.93.

I'll adjust the factory sights, then decide if I want to go to the XS Sights.

I will put a drop of Clenzoil on the sights before tapping them out.
I will not use Red Loctite. If there is an issue with the sights being bumped by brass punch and hammer, I want to be able to adjust them, or replaced if damaged.

My BG2 does NOT have a screw on the top of the rear slide.

I bought a quarter inch wide steel punch for a couple of bucks, ground it to fit the sights and put electrical tape between the punch and the sight. No marks at all.

Interesting about the set screw. Did the set screw version come 1st or did the non set screw sight come 1st?

The video is appreciated, but, the red lock tite (if used) should probably be put on AFTER a range session and final adjustment of the sights.

Permatex orange threadlocker is three times stronger than blue but is removeable. I would recommend it, as it has worked very well for me.

I purchased my BG2.0 on the first day they were available and it didn't have a set screw in it.

I got the impression that he already had installed a set of the XS sights on the gun, and that he was uninstalling and re-installing the same set of sights. The sights he uninstalled look a lot more high profile than the ones that came with my BG2.

Decent video but.....

When I replace sights, I use a white pencil to mark where the notch on the old rear sight is in relationship to the top of the slide and the same for the post of the front sight. This gives me a guide for positioning the replacement sights. Additionally, I would not add any Loctite until testing the sights for alignment.

Consider the BG2 philosophy of use...
It's likely true that pocket-mouse-guns' uses are close up, get-off-me firearms intended for one second acquisition and, if time allows... sight alignment.
I feel S&W was thinking about this when it comes to the larger "U" notch in the rear, I'll explain....

If found in an unfortunate situation of needing to utilize the BG2 for what it's built for, you may appreciate the rear "U" notch size. At first I recoiled at its canyon like size as well, until I thought about it... and did a little test.
Using a pistol rest at 10yds. away from the target, I centered the front sight equally inside the rear and basically shot out the 10x portion. Then pinning the left side of the front sight to the inside of the rear sight's left goal post... just enough to not allow light to be seen and fired 5rds. resulting in a nice group landing ~5" left of bullseye X. Repeating the same scenario on the right side of the front sight yielded the same results ~5" right.
Our brains/eyes are wired to naturally center the front post, and we train that way. With that understood, having a center-to-center spread of 10" at 10yds. is ideal given a potential high stress, life defending situation.
My point is this... yes, I want to be as perfect as possible at the range by taking my time, but real life won't be the same.

I agree with what you are saying. My preference is 1Dot on the front and don't really care about the rear even being there.

The factory front is not really a favorite since it disappears in so many situations. If they had a nice white, yellow or green, maybe even a gold bead that would be great.
I have not bought a set of sights yet, I'm waiting is hopes of the shallow v with a nice dot up front that XS makes for so many other models. Mean while, planning to do something like New2S&W77 did to just my front sight.

I know there are limitations to such a set up,
I know that my BG 2.0 won't be a very good long range gun. I know about the guy in the mall that made a 40 yard shot and my 1 dot won't be great at that. I know that at 25 yards my BG 2.0 won't shoot 1 inch groups. I confess to be a party influenced by Jeff Cooper.

My experience with my BG2 is different from New2S&W77.

Firstly.. the rear sight is nearly impossible to see in low light.

So if I can't see the rear sight my POA is likely to be nowhere close to my POI. The rear sight design may have been some kind of imaginary hypothetical scenario, but it definitely doesn't work in my reality.

The front sight with a small dim orange dot is nearly worthless. The tritium glow in total darkness is nearly invisible to pick up. I'd rather see a big florescent white dot.

With both sights way off from the alignment of barrel, shooting way left and low from POA, S&W dropped the ball on the sight design.

That's just my worthless opinion.

In all the time I have been interested in firearms which pre-dates the internet by a couple decades, I have yet to find/discover/have revealed to me the one final be all in any firearm category. Same for holsters and ammo.

I have ended up buying things that magazine experts and website experts said was no good. Sometimes it worked just fine for a given context. I agree that a big florescent white dot would be my druthers also, over the factory sight.
