I'm planing to buy my wife a big 30 next paycheck. The sdve is to bulk for her to carry 24/7. Any thoughts concerns or comments on this pistol as a carry weapon specifically for a female shooter?

Let her shoot one first before buying one. I bought a BG380 with the laser for my wife and she shoots it ok but she doesn't like the long trigger pull. Got her a 9mm Shield and she instantly fell in love and carries it all the time while the BG380 sits in the safe.

I also have the M&P 380 and the trigger feels slightly better than the laser version 380.

I second this, my wife hated the 380 I bought for her but she loves the wheel gun she picked out herself.

Moral: ya just can't shop for your wife... true for shoes to guns and everything in between.

I own and love the bg380....my wife HATES the recoil! When glock came out with the G42 we got her one. Dual recoil springs tames the recoil...and she LOVE the gun.

Let her try some, and pick one for herself. After all, she's the one who will be carrying it.

I agree with all the above. The best scenario is to find an indoor or outdoor range that rents pistols of various brands and calibers. Let her try out a few. All of the micro poly pistols kick and kick hard for something that's so small and "neat". I have a Keltek .380 and a 1st and 2nd generation Diamondback. Neither are designed for a woman. My hand is numb when I come home from the range and I've been at it for over 45 years.

The Glock 42 (.380) has almost no felt recoil (due to its gen4 dual recoil spring design). If you can afford to, get rid of the Keltek and Diamondback and get yourself a g42.

I've shot the Glock 42. In fact it was the first pistol I've shot since having a new lense put in my right eye after cataract surgery. I was really impressed with it. Shot a 2" group offhand at 50' with Blazers. Wouldn't cycle with 90 grain PPUs though. That being said, I liked the pistol and it was quite a lot of fun to shoot with the right ammo (Blazers and Hornady XTPs...90 grain JHP).

Here in Illinois, the prime word in concealed carry is concealed. If the Glock were 2/3 as thick and an inch shorter and less long, it would be in my short's pocked rather than the DB .380. Have you ever shot the Bersa CC .380? About the size of the Glock but much more simple in operation. Been looking for one at the range for my wife to shoot.

I've held it, but didn't shoot it. It's heavier than the 42, but, "simpler in operation"????? Never heard that said about ANY gun vs a Glock.

If you ever get a Bersa .380 Concealed Carry to shoot, try it out and then disassemble it. It comes apart very quickly. The barrel is attached to the frame and doesn't move...straight blowback, and you can buy parts for it. Looks like a piece of junk compared to a Glock but runs like an old Wesclox Big Ben windup clock.

For what it's worth my girlfriend absolutely hated shooting my BG, too harsh for her. I bought a Sig P238 and the first time she fired it I never got it back, had to buy a second one for myself.

Bottom line, let her find something she enjoys shooting and is comfortable with.

Bought a BG for my wife two years ago. After a few range sessions she lost interest in it because she couldn't get used to the long trigger pull and couldn't hit anything with it. So I got her a Sig 938 and she loves it, never leaves home without it, and has become a deadeye with it.

For Valentine's Day, she said she wanted a revolver to keep in the kitchen, so I got her a Ruger LCR 357 Mag......she loves that one too.

I'm really grateful to have a spouse that enjoys her weapon toys, makes it much easier for me to get mine when I want them! :D

My other half and myself were looking at the BG380 back in May, she liked the way it felt in her hand. But then she picked up a shield and she like it better. We ended up buying the Shield.

Had one, trigger pull was horrible, now have a Ruger LCP for a summer CC pistol. Still prefer my 19-4 for a number of reasons.
