Bore light recomendations?

I had used bore lights like the first one you listed and never was very happy with them.

About 6 months ago I got this one from Midway and I couldn't be happier. I use it daily, it lights up the bores and cylinder throats so much better and it can attach with the magnet on the body. I had none of the problems the negative reviewers had. It is inexpensive and the batteries are cheap and last forever.

I have a very expensive machinist's inspection light with a half dozen attachments, a fancy case and different color lenses. It even has a bendable extension.

That said........ 99% of the time I use the $4.00 dollar version like you have in your first photo and it always works just fine. The only reason I keep the fancy one is that it belonged to my Dad.

Just buy the cheap one, use it for many years, and if & when it craps out, spend another few bucks. In this case my feeling is that simpler is better.

I just take a white cleaning patch and place it about 1/2 inch behind the forcing cone and shine a light on the patch. It reflects to the inside of the barrel and works very well. Cheaper yet.

There are some very small LED lights that come with fishing bobbers. They are an excellent light source and will even work in a muzzleloader and are small enough to work in a 22 bore.
