Hi guys,

I've had my 15-22 a while now. I struggled to get the irons sighted in but didn't try that hard as I was getting an Aimpoint anyway. I got the Aimpoint and a Bushnell laser bore sight. I managed to get it sighted in but did think that it was adjusted a long way to one end of the scale.

I took the sight off (to try the QD mount as much as everything) and now I cant get it sighted in for the life of me. Am I doing something wrong?? (I guess not as I got it shooting fairly straight)

Any advice?

If your red dot sight is on a mount that rises it above the rail / upper, and you're trying to sight it in at a relatively close distance (25 yards?), you're going to have a harder time due to the height of the sight above the bore. Try sighting in at a longer distance. I just went through this with a new Aimpoint T-1 on a Larue LT660 mount. To sight it in at about 60-70 feet, I was all the way at one end of the adjustment scale for height.

Thanks Gotfish.

It is a 25m range and I'm trying to zero at a similar distance. I'll go longer and see how I get on.

(I love this forum. So much good advice and I never feel stupid for asking a question!)

For 50 yards and shorter, I sync the laser boresighter with a targeting laser on my bottom rail. The problem with red-dots I've found is that if they are on the flattop of the receiver they can be coincided with the bore laser fairly easily but when on a riser-rail parallax comes into play and it gets for difficult at short ranges to make the match. I have to use the riser with a 3-12X40 scope to clear the operating handle and use that for ranges over 50 yards. I just haven't solved the red-dot problem with the riser yet.

I've got a bore sight on the way and will stay with this thread for sure. I didn't think the riser would be a problem but what a great heads up. Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys,

I'll try and zero at longer range today and let you know how I get on. I'm fairly certain this is the problem. Thinking about it logically I should have worked that out. :o

Good to know. I am thinking about buying one, but trying to decide which one.

Well, the bushnell seems to be reasonable quality and works well (ignoring operator error! :o )
