Who has an AR as their primary home defense weapon?

This plus a 1911 sleep with me every night.

I know it's not a S&W but it used to be a Windham SRC.

Remington 870 Express Tactical

My Remington 870 Express Tactical 12 Gauge (18" Barrel) is just like the one pictured here. It came stock with the double pistol grips. It has 7+1 rounds of Winchester Super X (3"-00B, 15 Pellets) in it.

Remington may not be making these now. I purchased mine new over three years ago.

House guns as in home defense? For my environment and skill level, my primary home defense firearm is a Glock 17 Gen4 equipped with as many unfair advantages as possible. Suppressors are illegal in IL, so the best I could do was the compensator. I thought it wouldn't do jack, but it really does work. I also tuned the trigger to my liking.

This will be replaced soon. I have a similarly equipped Glock 22 Gen4 that is being milled for a Trijicon RMR and having suppressor height night sights installed. When that's complete, I will have every unfair advantage possible in and mounted to a handgun. I know people will ask why a Glock when X is so much better. While Glocks aren't my favorite pistol, I don't hate them either. I learned to shoot a pistol using a Glock 19. Because of this, shooting a Glock is natural for me. It feels like an extension of my will.

Otherwise, if I need a rifle:

^It's like an AR, AK, and Styer Aug had a three-way and conceived a child. The only things I've done to it was remove the extra spring from the trigger pack, transfer over my EoTech, and got sling for it. It's pretty much good to go right out of the box.

Oddly enough I only have one shotgun. I never get out to practice with it, so it's out of the running. I don't have the skill level to reliably employ a shotgun under stress.

My first Glock 19

I did not like the finger groove frame and gave this to my son, then got myself a gen. II Glock 19. My son bought a couple of 33 round mags for it and uses it as his house gun.

I've always figured that if some intruder wakes me up in the middle of the night out of stage 5 sleep, I'm probably gonna be kinda groggy.

As a result, my aim with a handgun or rifle won't be that reliable. So, to compensate for 1) being groggy and 2) being undoubtedly nervous, I've opted to have one of these close by, along with several rounds of double-ought buck. We live out in the country. It's just my wife and me, so I'm not worried about any shot penetrating walls.

Still, that being said, I also keep a handgun on the nightstand, just in case.:)

The house brands out here in the woods are Mossberg, Smith and Wesson, STEYR Mannlicher, and Marlin. Just us and the dogs, closest neighbors are half mile away so if something goes through a wall the intruder is the one who needs to be looking out. We keep the magazines full as some of them are 4 legged and have cost us dearly.

Moved from the farm to a condo a few months back, so the house gun is an old Akron PD 870 with 7.5 bird shot (the 7 year old girl next store is only a frame wall away) and a Model 49 always in my pocket. (I'm in City Limits, but there is a menacing ground hog 127 yards out my bedroom window; When he comes out to sun himself in the spring I'll just have to defend the homestead with a suppressed AR-15) Ivan

If you think I"ll be the one to talk you out of Para-Ordnance, not a chance. I have 2 small LDA Para-Carry's. They shoot very well!
