Had this on my list for sometime, and I finally had a chance yesterday to make a decision after comparing it to a LC9. I chose the M&P Shield 9 (No Thumb Safety version) over the LC9 as the trigger felt better and the overall feel of the gun in my hand felt comfortable without any repositioning.

This fills my void of a single stack 9mm that I can carry IWB year round. This is my second M&P, joining my M&P40C. The M&P lineup is slowly replacing my Glock's... I'll be shopping for a .45ACP next.

You can't go wrong with the M&P line of handguns. I had a 45c and sold it to fund another gun, man I am kicking myself in the butt for that.

The 45C is the model I am looking at to replace both my Springfield XDS.45 and Glock 30S.

Congrats on your purchase!
When you say you compared it the the LC9, do you mean the Original LC9 (with true DAO trigger), or the New LC9S (with Striker Fire trigger)?

I hated the LC9 trigger, but the new LC9S trigger is pretty nice.
(but its recoil still sucks) ;)

Congrats on the new the new edition to your family and for replacing your Glocks! You get more gun fore your money with the M&P line IMHO.

The original LC9.

Congrats. I have a safety M&P shield on layaway that I plan on picking up just before Christmas. Had the old LC9... That damn thing was so narrow it hurt my palm after 50 rounds. Hope for better results with the Shield.

I'll be keeping a few of my Glocks such as my model G29SF 10mm and my G41 Gen4 5" .45. But the others are subject to being replaced by an M&P...

I thought the shield was slightly narrower than the LC9 when I was shopping. I went with the Shield 9 and haven't regretted it.
