Been looking for a older Model 17 K22 for a while. Have found none local. I make the rounds of local gun and pawn shops in my area about once a week looking for a deal and never see these. I bought this one online from a dealer in New York and after shipping and transfer here it cost me $740.00 to get it home. Not to bad from the prices I have been seeing. This one was made in 1960 according to the serial number. Like most of mine it is a shooter and not something a collector would be chasing down. The grips are period correct but the number on one did not match the gun. Judging by some wear above the grip it may have had some target grips on it at one time. It may again if I find a older vintage set. Anyway here it is.

Congratulations! It is a classic outstanding revolver, surely you are going to enjoy it a lot

Nice, at a gun shop in Knoxville, Tn, they asked me 1,250 for one mfg in 1955, was nice but a little over priced in my opinion..
I have seen some where they were asking that online. The GB auctions I watched the nicer samples than mine with box were finishing between $900 - $1000. before shipping.

Looks to be a great M17, at even a better price. They are getting hard to find. I think you will have a lot fun with that.

Deals can be had on Gunbroker for those with patience. I recently acquired this 5 screw "Pre 17" on the site for right at $800 shipped. No one else bid for whatever reason, although there were other M17's listed that all had multiple bids, all were more $$, and not this nice. This one looks to be barely fired, and the diamond targets are original to the gun.

Your patience paid off well !! Good on you !!
Nice K22 ..Esp with the non relieved target stocks correct for it !! Those Grips are easily
worth 200+.. So you got a nice 5 screw Smith
22 for approx 600 clams..
That is saying your diligence paid off..
Congrats on your latest extra nice S&W
aquisition !! Hope you have fun w it.
Best Randy😁
