Bought a new toy yesterday! 9mm #5906

I've been looking for one of those for the last 6 months or so. From Clare to Traverse City, prices have been 500-675 bucks and not in as good condition as yours appears to be. You got a pretty good deal in my opinion, nice find! Enjoy your new pistol.

Wow, that makes me really happy that I got a 5906 a few months ago, in near mint condition, in the box, with 2 mags, papers, etc, for $325. It was a LE trade in, but it had barely been shot, and has only one tiny mark on the slide near the muzzle. The only thing missing is night sights.

Here is one of the CDNN trade-ins. I polished it a little though.

Been looking for a 5906 in excellent condition in my area of Florida for some time. Good ones are rare, and would go for more than you paid.

you might want to check on the 'squishy' grips unless you have XXXLarge hands.
I have XXL and the std factory grips are just fine. - I sort of wish the checkering was coarser though.
that's about the best 9mm to be made in America IMO. good pistol.

I've since put about 500 rounds down range with her and not ONE issue. This one was never fired previous to my ownership. Basically new.Now having shot it A-lot..the grips are just fine.
I now have my eye on a 4506 LEO trade in at Cabela's.
I wear a size XL glove, This handgun fits my mitts perfectly.

retroparts, I don't think you paid too much. That gun looks beautiful, it's worth it (in my opinion) to pay a couple extra bucks for a 5906 in superior condition.

I just bought one on Gunbroker and paid $405.00 for mine. I haven't received it yet but it looked damn near perfect judging from the pictures the seller had in the listing. Seller claims my gun is from the original owner with only about twenty rounds through it. So practically brand new. The one bad thing is that I'm only getting one mag with the gun. That's OK though.

No biggie, go to ammoclip.com & order up as many as ya want. Though they are in the $30 range:(
Heading to Cabela's today for a marine parts dealer expo...hope I can behave:cool:;)......yeah..right. They've a 645 in stock I've been drooling over online.

5906 is a real pistol

Nice acquisition, 5906 is all gun. Having said that, I wanted to share that I found a web sight that listed the 5906 as having been recalled because of the original grip material fracturing if the pistol was dropped (Heaven Forbid), releasing the mainspring and rendering the pistol unusable. I made the call to S&W yesterday and shared my serial number with the customer service representative who first stated that if mine broke they would replace them. My reply was why can you not just send a replacement set and be done with it? He agreed and the grips should arrive in a couple weeks. The second 5906 is a Police trade in and had already had the upgrade! If this is Old News I apologize, I only learned of this two days ago

Nice gun. There will be another 5906 out there when you want one.
I deleted my last post...had #'s mixed up:D I have a 5906..(what started the thread). Went & found a 4506 on Cabela's website, but it's in SD. When I got to the store, found a nice 645 & bought it. Passed on the 4506 " temporarily" ;)
Nick~
