If GM is going to do the name in, I figured I should get another one. I bought my wife a very clean 06 AWD Torrent. It replaced a Grand Caravan that was 10 years old. So far, she really likes it.

It will join my 00 Bonneville seen below.

i did last sept. and yes it is really fast. lots of fun too. another dumb idea from gm, cancel their 3rd best selling line.

At least GM didn't ruin the Pontiac marque the way they did the Oldsmobile brand... no tears shed when they quit making winners like the Aurora and Alero!

It's a shame to see the old names go away, but when they're selling the same cars under three or four different names in what amounts to competing against yourself, something has to give. Remember the Chevy Nova-Pontiac Ventura-Buick Apollo-Olds Omega?

pontiac is not going any where they will find away to keep it after 2010. pontiac has a large sales rate. once gm cuts a couple thousand gm dealerships and gets their finances back in order they will announce that pontiac will still be made. part of gm problems is they have to many of the same type dealerships in the same towns. the big problems was that gm has so many brands and that brand was sold as a stand along vehicle. a couple years ago they got smart and put buick, pontiac gmc truck all into one gm dealership. now when they drop hummer, sabb, saturn, etc they will have only 3 types of dealerships l. chevorlet. 2 cadillac and last buick, pontiac and gm trucks all sold together in one dealership. gm just had to much overhead in letting one dealership only selling one brand of gm vehicles

Max,
How would you like to buy Miss Baby's 2006 GXP,
the concept car that was supposed to test the water for a 2008 performance car? Unfortunately Pontiac ended up the G8, a much different vehicle. The 2006 does 0-60 in 5.2, and is governed at 137 mph. It eats Mustangs and Bimmers for breakfast. It looks like something
Darth Vader would have special ordered. The first week Miss Baby had it in Dallas she complained that all these young oriental kids driving rice rockets and latinos driving whatever it is that they like to bounce down the street in were hitting on her. I had to break the news that it wasn't her, but her ride they liked. Seriously I think we will keep this one. It's a nice contrast to my Honda Ridgeline.

My wife had a 1995 Olds Aurora. She loved it & I hated it. Worst uncomfortable seats I ever sat in. Good gas mileage on a trip but lousy around town. When she passed the will gave it to her son. He promptly sold it. Thank God.

So the Model 58's will be safe at Troy.

Aloha,

The GM subsidiary in Australia, HOLDEN, makes some pretty zippy sport UTEs that Pontiac Should have imported when they had the chance.

I would consider a Pontiac version of the Holden with a 6 ltr V-8 done in the El Camino style.

I know I'm probably gonna tick somebody off with this suggestion, but why not axe the GMC truck line? Aren't they a total duplication of the Chevy trucks? Seems like there could have been a lot of savings in eliminating that obvious duplication right off the bat ages ago.

The G8 is a really nice car and the GXP version is even nicer. For GM fans, there will still be the new Camaro in both standard and SS packages. The SS has the same engine as the G8 GXP.
