Greetings everyone...

As if I really needed another 357, I went ahead and bought a new Ruger Blackhawk with a 4 5/8" barrel! I already have 3 S & W 357's, M 586, M 19 & a M 65.

Well at least my Single Six will have a "big brother"!

I hate getting a case of "I just have to have it". Any cures?

In the meantime, I am patiently waiting my 10 day waiting period!

Best

The Ruger Blackhawk is a fine single action revolver. The first handgun I ever bought was a Blackhawk in 45 Colt. I fell in love with the gun and the cartridge. I had a 4 5/8" Blackhawk in 357 that I foolishly traded away several years ago. One day, I'll get another one.

Yeah, I've also had that "I've just gotta have this one" thing come over me... more than once! There is no known cure.

The first handgun I ever owned was a Blackhawk in .357, as much as I love my Smith's, those .357 Rugers are just downright tough.

Sometimes you come across a gun that just screams, "Take me home!" Sometimes it's a gun that you have always wanted, and sometimes it's just a deal too good to pass up.

Good luck with the new shooter!

My wife has a 7.5" barreled SBH...her dad gave it to her when we began dating.

I had a decent set of springs installed and a tiny bit of stone work done...It's a great shooter.

I've shot 6-7 deer with it. I like being able to go maximum hunting loads w/no fear of hurting my gun!

Enjoy.

Ruger used to fit a 9mm cylinder to those from the factory too. I don't know if they still do refits, but if they do, it's nice to have that second cylinder.

i recently picked up a stainless 4 5/8 .357 blackhawk from 1976 wit the "200th year of freedom " barrel label its a nice shooter. It rolls with the stainless .44 and .45 blackhawks i have picked up within the last few years.

Picked up my first one, a flattop .44, in 1969, and cut the barrel to 4 5/8". Still have it, and some others to keep it company.

I think they're getting better--had my 50th anniversary .357 flattop out today, and it's one fine gun. I have a 1998 vintage .45 Convertible that is the most accurate bigbore I have.

No tactical tupperware around here.

Yep! When I stopped this afternoon to look for another j-frame, there was a Colt Detectives Special screaming that same thing . A lack of funds kept me from bringing it home. Not to worry though, a $300 deposit will hold it 'til I get back there with the balance.

To the original poster, you can't go wrong with a Blackhawk...

My first handgun, bought in '74! I still have it and the box and the red felt bag with the 9mm cylinder. I didn't know anything about handguns and a friend who was a part time employee at a gun shop recommended it for a first timer. While it's not a S&W, I think he gave me some great advice!

I was at the gettin place today and he had a 5 1/2 Vaquero dual cylinder .45 and then he had a .32 H&R Mag Vaquero type gun with a birds head grip on the single six frame it was blue and color case hardened, it was so purty. The 45 was that polished stainless, I could just see me walkin down main street in Dodge City. I have got an itch here.

I picked up this New model Blackhawk (pre-warning) about a year ago. She's a convertible .45 and .45 LC. Great revolver, I'm sure you will enjoy yours.

Bullman, which shop was that?

Nothing like a Ruger Single-Action, I've a few in most of the popular calibers. Know what you mean just bought a S&W 4006 and am in to my 6th day of a 10 day wait for pick-up.

I have an Old Model .357/9MM Convertible and and Old Model Super Blackhawk. Now those are guns!
Haven't fired either in a long time, I do remember the 9MM cylinder (in its red felt bag)
gave good accuracy with lead bullet reloads.

Looks like the Blackhawk is rather popular, no wonder Ruger is still making them.

I will be anxious to pick it up and fire it at the range.

I have a soft spot for Ruger Single Actions. It was the first handgun I ever fired, at the age of 7, my Dad's Single Six.

Not only a soft spot, but they point well and are just so much fun to shoot!
