Hey everyone I was excited for the new bodyguard 2.0 but wow there are a lot of issues with them. So because of that I decided not to wait for a new bodyguard 2.0 and found a great price on a new shield 2.0. Yes it has 7-8 rounds but at least it doesn’t have all the problems.

So those with a shield 2.0 what are you guys using as holsters and mag carriers?

Fortunately for me, I just had nuisance FTFs with my BG 2.0 but fixed it by removing edge on lower ramp, 1200 rounds in and it’s sweet!

My boss carries his shield plus in an LLOD aiwb holster. It's got the mag pouch built in and it's only got one belt clip on it. Just take a hair dryer or something and get the plastic malleable and then you can bend it to fit you perfectly.

I just have a we the people for my shield 45 and I have no complaints. I'm sure the ones for the 9/40 are equally as simple and comfortable, but I don't carry my 40, so I cannot say for sure.

Vedder Pro Draw Paddle OWB Holster and Cross Breed OWB Multi-Fit Magazine Holster. Both are good EDC products.

Or this Bianchi Model 57 Pancake Holster.

For mine I have a Mitch Rosen Upper Limit and a R. Grizzle High Country.
Both are excellent. Mine are straight drop (zero cant) and can be worn from in front to just behind the hip.

Concerning the ammo count, let me have the first 7-8 of the Shield and then you can have the rest.

What specifically are are these issues with the Bodyguard 2.0 are you referring to? Other than the 12 round mag being hard to load the last round in... I haven't seen any problems that are consistently reported by owners.
I have one and it's been flawless through 300 rounds. Awesome little gun so far. I also have a Shield Plus in 9mm and it's had a few minor quirks.

Just look at all of the issues here on the forum. Not to mention other forums people are saying the same things. If I get a bodyguard 2.0 it will be 3-4 years. Once all of the bugs are worked out.

Agree most problems imo have been nickel dime issues with majority being stiff mags, FTFs and sights, sights being probably 98% shooter error imo.

I consider myself a newbie of guns with 3 years experience. During that period, I’ve owned 12 handguns, none revolvers. Only 3 operated flawlessly, a Bul Armory SAS UL 3.25, Hellcat OSP & PDP F 3.5. The other 9 had minor issues - Glocks 19 & 42, Sigs 365X & 938 Legion, Hellcat Pro, FN Reflex, AF1911 S15, LCP Max, BG 2.0.

I have a M&P 9 Shield M2.0, 3.1" barrel, Performance Center, ported barrel model I've had for over four years now. I've put a lot of rounds through it with no issues.

I carry it in a LAG Tactical "Defender" Kydex holster that can be worn IWB or OWB. I prefer OWB for more comfort. The holster covers the mag release on the inside with a full sweat guard, adjustable ride height and cant, reversible belt loops and contoured to fit the body. I don't carry an extra mag - if I need more than eight rounds, it's a fire-fight and I'll need to get the hell out of there.

PS - I also have a Bodyguard that has had no problems yet - waiting on delivery of a pocket holster.

Since 1994 I've purchased a Browning High Power and the two Shields for myself, but a few dozen Glocks, some Masadas, and a hundred seventy Sig M11s. Only 2 Sigs (out of that 170) didn't work, and the factory replaced them promptly.

Used semi-autos are another story.

Boy, you have been properly snakebit by a number of popular guns considered largely reliable.

Long-time Shield 2.0 9mm PC owner here. NOT ONE problem in thousands of rounds with any type of ammo you can think of. Given what I've read here about the new Bodyguard, I wouldn't touch it until there's a 2.0. Add to that the many, many posts I've read here about problems with new S&W guns.

You made the right choice.

Have to agree with you! My BG 2.0 has been flawless so far and the stuff I have seen on here has been mostly the mag issue and the manual not saying pull the trigger to release the slide.

Nothing wrong with a shield if that’s what you want, but the BG 2.0 has been solid for me

I still use a 1st Gen Shield. It has a Talon grip wrap and I use Magguts +2 extensions. Holster is a Tulster Profile with the belt loops instead of the plastic clip. I debated whether to move up to the Shield Plus when it came out, but since I had the magazine extensions on all my mags and was comfortable with the gun I had I just couldn't see the need to make the change.

Hey, Cuz (DW Hanna here), you made a fine choice. The 2.0's are solid pistols that will serve you well. There are a couple things you can do to up the round count in your mags. Either the +2 spring kits from Magguts or an extended base pad from Strike Industries will give you 9 rounds in the mag and one in the pipe.

I have a pair of the PC ported 2.0's, one in 9mm, one in .40, and they are my go-to carry guns with the .40 being the one that most often accompanies me out the door. While I normally opt for Talon grips on my handguns, these have Hogue Handalls on them, and they are great!

The 9mm has the Magguts kit in it, the .40 is shown with the stock 7 round base, but with the Strike Industries extended base it now holds eight rounds. Good luck and good shooting!

As far as holsters, I have a couple generic no-name Kydex, an OWB from Bravo Concealment, and an IWB from Milt Sparks. One I can recommend are the offerings from Alien Gear. The prices are fair, the warranty is very good, and they have as many options as you need.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
