Hi all, I Just bought a new RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme press, got it set up and running. This thing is a tank compared to my old wobbly near worn out RCBS Partner press. Anyway, I am used to placeing the bullet into the case from the right side with my right hand, and with the handle placed in the right side position (needed) it blocks access to the case. Does anyone know if there is a after market replacement part to relocate the handle to a center position? I checked RCBS's web site and nada. This may be a stupid question, but dang it I wanted to get it in this year!

Bob,

If putting the handle in the left hole won't work maybe you could heat the handle with a torch and put a bend in the handle. Just don't bend the handle to far or you won't be able to thread the handle back in the press.

The handle on my Rock Chucker is on the right, where it has been the last 30 years. I simply place the bullet with my left hand, that is the way I learned and it feels perfectly natural to this right hander.

I also set the shell holder so the case slips in from the left. The only thing my right hand does is pull the handle. Maybe it will feel less awkward after a few days of working with both hands.

I don't remember if the handle can be swapped to the other side for a lefty or not (and its too cold out in the garage tonight to go check...if it was warmer I be rolling a few before bed).

Thank's fella's! I really hate to change my style as it works for me but sometimes change is inevitible. And sometimes you are too close to the problem and dont think of an alternative, Maybe I can fab a new handle with a dog leg to the left. Anyhow thanks again for the input and happy new year to all!

I don't know if this helps or not, but.....My ritual is to drop powder into each case and then check all cases for a powder charge. Then, I'll put a bullet on top of each and every case while the cases are still in the shell holder before seating/crimpimg.

The above effectively caps off each round after the powder charge is verified. It's probably just a mental thing knowing that all 50 or so cases are capped-off as soon as possible after powder charges are verified. Also, placing the bullet on the case while the case is on the shellholder was to awkward for me.

Good luck and Happy New Year

I've never heard of a conversion. Depending on the length of the cases you are loading you can move the handle forward far enough to place the bullet before final seating.

If that doesn't work you can always move your chair further to the right. Just kidding.

hold the bullet in your left hand as stated above. in no time you will forget you ever did it the other way.

I've got 2 Lyman presses that you can move the handle to either side, but since day one have had the handle on the right side and placed bullets with my left hand. Just seemed natural to me.
