I got the bear.
I was making the rounds at my favorite pawnshop and ran into the owner in the parking lot. While talking, he told me about a pair of stainless .357 Smith & Wesson's that where ready for sale. I asked him how much?
$299 & $275 both 6" 686's one a dash-1, one no-dash. One was just dirtier than the other. I bought both.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Great find and congrats. If you hadn't been doing the leg work, scouring the pawn shops and local gun shops, the deal never would have happened. Nice work! Nice iron

I got a tip from a guy who knows I like revolvers, he told me about a mint 586 4" that the LGS was asking $350 for, I drove over the the next day, was there when they opened, the guy sold it right before closing for $325!

Then he tried to said "I just got these new polymer Taurus 357's in". Ugh...

FFL's have to hold guns for 30 days before selling them, they also have to run the serial number against the ATF's stolen gun database when it comes on the books and before it is offered for sale.

The ATF really does not mess around with this stuff. If it comes up stolen later, that's a different thing, but I would bet it's not what you describe.

Likely a guy who was forced by the Sheriff Dept. to sell his guns due to a Domestic charge, or someone passed on and his wife/family dumped his guns for what they could get for them.

I like the one with the stags and the T-grip, reminds me of something a small town Deep South Sheriff would carry
