Brands you would not buy again...

That's not always true if you "buy cheap get cheap". I paid over $700 for the piece of junk Para P-10 with night sights and this was back about 15 plus years ago. On the flip side, I also have a Turkish made Canik TP9 that i paid $275 for and it is an awesome running gun.

Should also add. Had a $400 Eotech 512 that would not hold zero - since been replaced by an Aimpoint PRO. Also have a Bushnell Trs-32 a quarter of the price of an Eotech - never had an issue.

I bought a used Taurus TCP738 in .380 that had a bum magazine that would fail to feed on every other round with that particular mag. Cleaned it up and ended up trading it in (lost 1/2 my investment on it) for a BG380, which is my EDC now.

I did give Taurus another shot when I picked up a PT111G2 in 9mm a couple months ago. Love that gun, has given me not one iota of trouble so far after about 300 rounds now. Even got an OWB Hughes Holster for it.

I bought an Interarms Virginian Dragoon 44 mag once years ago. The routine on it was to fire six rounds and tighten up all of the screws. My brother borrowed it and I never asked him for it back.

I once had a dream, turned out to be a nightmare, where I was in a dicey situation with a Rohm revolver and things weren't going so well. Does that count?

Para.. had a Para Companion in .45 acp, sent it back to factory, when it came back it still wouldn't feed FMJs.

I never blamed the gun. We just didn't get along.

Guns are like Baskin Robbins to me, so many flavors 'ya just got to try them all.;)
That philosophy was why I bought a taurus tracker solely because I wanted to shoot a 44 mag. Amazingly it is very accurate, so far not a problem. After watching a utube where a shooters barrel blew off, I put up and extra large target. (Cause was incorrect seating/torque installing the barrel. Large target comment tongue in cheek

So what brand well you not buy again? Because I don't think its Taurus.
There is a show off your EDC thread if that's what you want to do.

I got a kel tec p11

I got a kel tec p 11 as a 'stopgap' measure until I could get a Shield. I haven't decided whether I liked it or not. Because of various problems (the first had it sent back to the factory) I haven't had a successful enough session with it to say whether it's good or bad. Some problems were caused by reloads because my full size 9mm would eat anything, but I found compact pistols to be more finicky and all the ammo that worked in my third gen S&W 5963 didn't work in the compacts. One more range session should tell me if I've got the problems worked out. I BELIEVE that with the right ammo it would be very reliable, but I'm not there yer.

My two new colt 1911a1 had loose sights, one of them. The other had feeding problems. Traded both. I had a '90 series 90 SA 1911a1 that jammed 1 round per 8rd mag. It is so purdy in black park with the tighter frame to slide fit, plus the taller sights it stayed growing roots in the safe for over a decade. Then I found out I detuned the extractor by loading the first round by hand slamming the extractor and slide over it. Since I have a education on 1911's now I tuned the extractor. She runs like a Swiss watch.

I try to stay with good quality guns. I don't have enough time in my life to waist sending guns back for repairs.

I purchased a Stoeger Luger in 22lr but I haven't shot it yet. It's the all steel pistol.

Purchased the misses a new Taurus revolver in 22 cal as her first gun. It's a awesome revolver so far.

Walther - could not fire an entire magazine successfully. Didn't matter which brand of ammo, shooter, or magazine.

What model/year? If newer -- was it a legit Walther, or something Umarex makes?

I doubt I'll get another Kel-Tec. Just not very tough guns.

I won't buy another blued Ruger. Their bluing is poor IME.

This is my answer, but not because of the P3AT I have. That little sucker has been a gem, and has alot of rounds thru it and a lot of carry miles. It was state-of-the-art when I bought it, but there's much better alternatives now.

To all the guns I've loved before,
Who traveled in and out my door
I'm glad they came along,
I dedicate this song
To all the guns I've loved before
To all the guns I once caressed,
And may I say, I've held the best,
For helping me to grow, I owe a lot, I know,
To all the guns I've loved before
The winds of change are always blowing
And ev'ry time I tried to stay
The winds of change continued blowing,
And they just carried me a way
To all the guns who shared my life,
Who now are in someone else's safe;
I'm glad they came along,
I dedicate this song
To all the guns I've loved before
To all the guns who cared for me,
Who filled my sights with ecstacy;
They live within my heart;
I'll always be a part
Of all the guns I've loved before...

To all the guns I've loved before,
who traveled in and out my door
I'm glad they came along,
I dedicate this song
To all the guns I've loved before...

Sorry, but I've never come across a gun I didn't love shooting, if at least for a while. Some have come and gone, some still hangin' on...hey, maybe I'll write my own dang song :)

edit: oh, I have to say that although I've never regretted acquiring a gun, there are a few that I DO regret letting go. You know, the more I think about it the more I think guns really are like women!

Universal M-1 carbine. Worse gun I ever had. Jammed, screws came loose, and fore end cover fell off when shooting it. Years later I ended up with one on a estate sale. It was the first one's evil twin.

40 cal Sigma Series... Bought it during a run on guns years ago when someone introduced another assault rifle ban. It was only thing at LGS I could afford. Traded towards S&W 1006 years later.

This thread is interesting to read through and it becomes apparent that members here dislike guns for very different reasons. Some of these reasons are very subjective and not really based on a defect or technical flaw of a firearm, as the title of the thread implied to me.

Well, I like firearms and have owned hundreds of handguns that I shot and enjoyed first hand experience with. I will buy almost any gun I see if the price is right and I expect being able to retrieve my money if, or when I sell it.

Personally I have had bad luck with both Keltec handguns that I had bought new and even sending one gun in for warranty repair only improved but did not fix the reliability issue. That is sad on a carry gun used for personal protection.
On the other hand, the Sub2K worked very well but the inline stock design and poor sights quickly made me sell it off ( without a financial loss).
