A couple of days ago I fired about a 100 rounds and when I got home I noticed a lot of brass particles in my receiver. Any thoughts? Is this normal? Thanks.
Yep! Brass is softer than steel and all them steel part moving around , and the brass case rubbing against the various parts , some with sharp edges , makes for some shavings.
Extraction after firing for instance.
The brass case is stationary while the bolt turns in the bolt carrier during cycling. The extractor and ejector , and their respective cuts/holes in the bolt will often shave a bit of brass. No worries.
A blast of air or Gunscrubber (or non-chlorinated brake cleaner) , into the extractor and ejector followed by a drop of Break-Free or some lubricant will keep things going. Never heard of one getting so packed it failed.
