Howdy Fellas,

I just inherited (unfortunately) a few small squeeze bottles of liquid Break Free CLP, and since I have never used this product before and I am unfamiliar with it, and I need to know if it is still good.

The color is an orange/brown and is somewhat thick in consistency, sort of like heavy weight motor oil. I always thought it was a thinner type of oil, so I do not know if what I have is still good or it has gone bad. Thanks in advance!

The older breakfree had particles that would settle to the bottom of the bottle. Had to shake it every time. The older formula was also a little darker and thicker than what I find now, but not like you describe.

If it smells like breakfree (unmistakeable), I would just pick up a can of the spray breakfree at walmart and mix the old stuff 50/50. That spray can breakfree is water thin.

It may not be worth the hassle, though.

I have several bottles of Breakfree CLP that are at least 20 years old and are probably closer to 30 years old. The stuff does not deteriorate or go bad.

Well I called the Company today and they did confirm that their product, Break Free only has a 6 year shelf life, and they also told me the consistency that I was describing is not what it is supposed to be. The bottles I got from my Dad are at least 12 years old or more, so I will toss it and call it a day.
