Breaking in New M&P 15-22

...yep...I've cleaned mine........I think it was last October!!

I shoot 6000-7000 rounds a month of 7.62x39 .243, .223, .45ACP, 9mm and .22LR over 4 or 5 different range trips. I just cant imagine cleaning 10 guns every time I go out...

If I have an issue, or I think there might be an issue arise due to a dirty weapon I will take a few minutes and clean appropriately, other wise I enjoy my firearms for what they were intended. Shooting!!

That being said, probably once a year or so I will do a thorough tear down of each weapon and clean and inspect it.

Cleaning is over rated!!

I agree....unless your fighting in a sandstorm.

Yep I agree 100%

For the shooting I do now which is only for recreational use, my cleaning practices have worked for me for many years.

I think I'll stick with cleaning mine every several hundred rounds... you guys have fun with all the gunk and problems though... .22lr ammo is not the cleanest stuff around, and it will cause problems if you're not doing maintenance at all.

At the very least I would be cleaning the barrel, the feed ramp, chamber, and bolt face... all the areas where gunk collects. I've gone 500-600 rounds between cleanings, and its not pretty, especially depending on the ammo you use. Not cleaning the barrel also affects accuracy, it can also damage the barrel if the buildup is excessive... the barrel "swells" as the round travels down, and in extreme cases it can actually bulge the barrel.

Cleaning is not overrated... unless you dont care about the quality and reliability of your weapon.

If I have a gun that I won't shoot very often and will likely end up being a safe queen I will give it a good cleaning before storing it away.

You never know when the next time is that you're going to get the pleasure
of firing your weapons. You may plan on going again next weekend, but
trust me, things happen.

When I was laying in a hospital bed for 3 months in traction, I would have
been eating my own innards worrying about my rifles rotting, but they were
all nice an clean, as they always are.

A little overblowan, but you catch my drift, yeah? ;)
