Just picked this up:

Correct me if I am wrong.. and please give me an idea of value if you guys and gals can.

1st model 32 Safety Hamerless (Lemon Squeezer) "Bicycle Model" 2" Original Nickel finish and bone grips. SE# is 26,xxx

Finish is 95+% Grips are un cracked, bore is 75%+ Function and timing are spot on. Ejector spring is fully functional. Engraving is better than I have ever seen on a gun this age, so I do NOT feel it has been re-plated.

Any help on value and corrections are greatly appreciated.

Can you please post more pictures in different lighting? The pictures don't reflect the nickel finish properly. The barrel lettering is centered properly for a 2" barrel, so this is a nice find. However, it is unlikely the grips are original.

Are you sure that is the right serial no.? The barrel latch looks like a later model.

Front sight appears to be forged to barrel. I'd guess that it's a .32 Safety, Third Model. Serials 170,000 to 242,981. I think the OP missed a number. The trigger appears to be blue and not case colored. Generally, it looks to be a renickel; pin in barrel buffed flat and the area around the witness marks at the hinge is dished out. Better photos may help but I suspect a cut barrel and renickel. Are there any pictures of the left side of the revolver or the barrel stampings?

How could it be a cut barrel with the front sight forged integrally with the rib?

Better photos are needed. I have seen "forged" front sights (no pin showing) that were silver soldered to the barrel rib after cutting the barrel. Good question; I wasn't clear with my thoughts. To me, the whole revolver has a "soft" look - buffed look. Left side pics would help.

I'm thinking with that latch and S/N it would be a 2nd model. Hmm, with the caliber markings on the barrel it may well be a 3rd model. Looking at it, I don't think it has been refinished, but there appears to be some pitting on the cylinder and from the picture I can't tell if on top or under the nickle. Better pictures are definitely needed to accurately est any value. I just noticed the OP's picture (to me) appears the latch ends are nickle. On S&W's they were always blued. That would be a definite indication of a refinish.

Judging from the poor photos, this a third model, absolutely not a first model. Poster has misread the serial number. Ed.
