is that like a highway patrolman? just picked one up havent shot it yet looks very utilitarian, flat black finish and all..

I suppose they could do it as a "classic" but there seem to be a lot of pretty nice originals around at affordable prices. Ruger's GP-100 does the same job just about as well.

I like the M28s (have had three, managed to keep one that I don't shoot). It's day is not done for revolver people but it is now an exercise in nostalgia.

So is my '72 Jeep CJ-5.

I have the ruger security six in 357mag in blue, w/6" barrel that cost me $199, my dealer just dumped it, but its no N Frame S&W. I been eyeing another security six 6" in stainless too. Sorry its the highway patrolman I guess I get them mixed up lately. I may have to settle for a S&W M27 while i wait. They show up here sooner or later i'm in no rush.

ive tried out my m28-2 and i think it bumped my 629 out of "my favourite" position it is VERY accurate and recoil doesnt get painful like the 44 does after a while ...i can shoot it better than my 14-4 which was supposed to be my dedicated paper puncher.
get a used one if new isnt available, but get one. you wont regret it

There's plenty HP's around for sale and you can get them
reasonable as well. I would'nt wish for a remake on this
classic as the new ones would have that stupid lock on
them and those MIM parts.
For 5 bills you can have the original and a nice one at that.

i paid 450 for a low mileage 6" 28-2 up here in b.c., paid 800 for my 6" 629 no dash. so yes, very reasonable

I've been looking to add one to my humble collection. I want a 4" there are two 6" ones in the local want adds and they have been looking for $550 for over a month. You do realize that S&W still makes the 27 don't you? It's a fancy 28.

The Model 28 is my favorite revolver. I was looking for another shooter recently and found a nice 4-inch model for $500 - finish excellent but small chip in one of the grip panels. Chip was not a problem as I'm replacing the factory grips with a set of Troopers.

Most accurate revolver I've ever owned was a 6" Model 28 - traded it off several years ago for some new-fangled whiz-bang something I don't even remember (but then again I've done the same thing with a mint Model 12, a skeet grade 20 ga. 1100, a slick M&P 32-20 .....get the picture....... all of which I wish I had back.) Just remembered I also was shooting a Colt Trooper at the same time as the 28 - I like Colts but it wasn't anywhere near the gun the 28 was.

Love the 28. I own a 28 no dash four screw with a 6 inch barrel and a Pre 28 (Shipped '55) 5 screw with a four inch barrel. Both are some tack driving comfortable shooters!

The balance on my new S&W M58 / M57 plus my new 29-10 feels perfect and i'd like to get an N frame in 357mag too. The 44mag with the 5 1/2" barrel with stuot loads in my redhawk is starting to hammer me(I'm getting old now 61yo). But the S&W M58 in 41mag with normal magnum loads shoots awesome even with the 4" barrel i like it. I have two torn rotator cups in both shoulders and i'm putting off the operations from accidents (4) on a quad. After picking up a S&W combat masterpiece in 38 special and seeing how smooth it is i'm ready for a 357mag.
