SEALs or SAS

Who is the most hardcore? Who produces the best warrior?

The US SEAL Teams, or the British SAS?

If I picked one, would I not wished I had picked the other at some point? I must say I do think the Brits are better at keeping quiet.

My brother-in-law served in the SAS and I can tell you, he basically says nothing about his time in service ,but my sister says there are some nights that the dreams still "haunt" him and will wake him up in a panic.

Quite a tight lipped band of gentlemen...

The British sure can be tight lipped.

The Security Service (MI5) chose not to share their 1956 "Survey of Russian Espionage of the U.K.", with the British SIS, the Commonwealth, and especially not the Americans.

"It must certainly not go to the Americans, since it reveals an alarming number of known spies walking about as free men."

You can download the original report from the UK National Archives.

They do different things: the SAS is part of our army, the SEALS part of your navy right?

Correct. And asking which produces the best warrior is liking asking which is the better vehicle: a Land Rover or a Corvette.

UDT/SEAL, SAS ♠

Dead is dead, whether by Seals, or SAS. just my 2 cents:cool: worth

Ah yes. Facts don't seem to be to important today do they.
"Mr. Rogers" was never even in the military.

Special Air Service, Special Boat Service, SEa-Air-Land, used to, maybe still do, all cross-train together.

Mike

Navy SEALS weren't formally established until 1962. The urban legend I heard about "Mr. Rogers" was that he was a pedophile forced to make children's programs as penance.
I would probably pick the SAS, from what I've read once you get through Selection and are accepted, you aren't hassled as much and subject to petty annoyances. Once David Stirling and Jock Lewes sold the British higher ups on the concept of the SAS, they were pretty much given a free hand. And in peacetime the British government seems to back its forces better than Uncle Sam, there isn't the micromanaging and constant looking over your shoulder and scapegoating that is the bane of the U.S. military.

But our government does whatever it can to cut the armed forces to the bone, and not only in peacetime, embarrassing us on the world stage in both Iraq and Afghanistan because it wouldn't fund them properly.

Mid-80s stationed in the Netherlands-went to England-briefed the SAS-As with all special operatives-everything is classified. No one is "better" Everyone has missions that call upon the superior nature of our character. We are lucky to have such people-to the misfortune of tyrants.
