Is it possible to buy the lower without the firing mechanism.

As far as i am aware, it is NOT possible to buy any split parts from S&W upper/lower/bolt/extractor etc etc

Defiantly NO on lower receiver. If you find the right customer service person, you might be able to weasel small parts (firing pin, FP spring, extractor etc.)

You can get lower recievers, maybe not S&W and that is the gun so you will have to fill out the paperwork all over again. If that camo is part of the finish you may be out of luck as well.

You cannot use an AR15 lower on the M&P 15-22. Can you explain how the lower broke on your 15-22? Even If S&W is willing to replace your lower under warranty or sell you one. You will still have to fill out the paperwork like you were buying a new firearm.

That is not necessarily true; as pointed out in one of the other active threads relating to missing serial number plaque:

S&W is half correct. They can't replace the firearm with a new one that has the same serial number. They can replace it with a firearm ("same kind and type") with a different serial number without paperwork form the owner. They have to note it in their records.

This information can be found in ATF Ruling 74-20

Bottom line, call up S&W, ask for a return shipping label, and have them fix it.

Not so long back there was a thread advertising new rifles at $150. Just buy a new one. Ditch the broken lower once stripped if all useful springs and pins etc. Problem solved, new rifle and a bucket full of spares!!!

The lower is the receiver and that makes it the gun.
Generally you have to go through the same stuff as if buying a new gun to get just the lower.
Firing mechanism? The trigger group?
The mag catch is in there too.
I would send it back to S&W for warranty work.
Inquiring mind want to know how it broke.
You know, so we don't do the same thing.

Yep - we need to hear that story and if you have pics that would be a big bonus! Never cared for the cheap plastic AR 22's but also never thought a rabbit could break one!

Probably going to be cheaper to get a new one when they are on sale around/under $300 then sell the old upper assy on ebay for $200-250. But you might get lucky on warranty, not sure.

Preacher, you can buy a lower such as an anderson for short money, around here roughly $65.00, transfer everything over which is pretty easy and you are good to go. As a previous post said it will still be registered as a rifle though.

Good Luck

Pete

No you can't. The 15-22 lower and AR lowers are NOT interchangeable. There are several dimensional differences that make the swap impossible. S&W did that deliberately to prevent people from putting .223/5.56 uppers on the 15-22 lower.
