Broken S&W 640: Next move?

I sent my 649-2 back to mama smith last spring and although they said it was out of warranty, they would fix it for $90 (hammer slide stud had broken off) I didn't argue and told them to proceed with the repair.

9 months later, I got it back fully functional.

I wonder if their repair policy is now different?

I had the same issue occur with a model 940. The barrel broke at the threads. Got the same letter from S&W and tried going up the chain and the standard answer I got was the "Lifetime Warranty" only extends to the continued productivity of that model and supply of parts. No joy! On a whim I posted a WTB ad for a 940 barrel on this forum. Fast forward a couple months I was ready to mount a 640 barrel (found that at Numurich), what's a thousandths of an inch? That's when I got a response to my WTB ad, someone had a 940 barrel bought it and all is good. A good source for parts, repair and advice is Eli at TK Customs.
