Here's one out of left field for this forum, anyway: Anyone in here have any experience with a Browning 10/71? Came across a nice example and it's kind of an intriguing pistol but can't find much at all about anyone actually using one.  Just curious. Thanks.

Nothing more than the FN Model 1910/Browning 1955 with a few added features to make the BATF Point Total necessary for handgun importation under the '68GCA.
They took a nice pocket handgun and added some target type features to make the OK to import point total.

It;s a pistol not really suited for either role anymore, and the sales reflected it.
I guess that makes it kind of rare now and maybe valuable once again(?)

The basic design is JMB and a good one. No problems there. I think all the 10/71 Models were in .380acp. The extended slide of the Model 10/71 makes for it's own special bbl aside,,a difference from the older Model 10/55.
The other internal parts are the same.
They added target grips and sights to get extra points in the system too.

It lasted only a few yrs,,discontinued in '74 or 75 IIRC.

You said it all before I could get to it. ;)
You could condense it into >
"How to screw up one of the thinnest, slickest pocket pistols ever made." :D

I did like the metal triggers though. I put one of those triggers in my later Mod 1955 .380 to replace the PLASTIC. ;)

I have one, great sight picture, nice firearm, but is a little too big for concealed carry, especially when you consider others that are smaller and carry more rounds than the 10/71.

I like the 10/71, but would probably not carry it as I don't have a second magazine.

Great pistols the 1910/55 and some late ones did indeed have plastic
triggers. Interesting thing; I have two late 1910/55 380s, both date to
1968, the last year of importation. One has a steel trigger and one has
the plastic trigger. Actually with the simple design of the 1910 and the
way the trigger works it makes no difference either way. Still....plastic
in a classic Browning? Ugh

I guess I am learning again. I have a '68 10/55 with both barrels, and steel trigger. I didn't even know about the plastic triggers.

I passed on an excellent 10/71 three years ago that was priced below $300.00. It looked weird and I just "thought" about it too long. Three days later it was gone, and three years later I'm still kicking myself for not getting it.

Some of the late to be imported 25acp Browning pistols have plastic triggers also.,,,and it seems a plastic magazine catch.
Not absolutely sure about the mag catch but it seems I had to make one for a pistol I engraved way back along with a steel trigger to replace the plastic parts.

Just saw a 1910 in 32acp at a gun show over the weekend for $279.99
Some pitting and no blue left. Old one with the pressed horn material grips (in not the best condition either).
Somebody scooped it quickly.

I put a nice pair of English walnut 1910 grips on mine. 1910 magazines will fit, too.
