Looks like someone wanted it pretty bad. Another bidder came in with unlimited funding, made that known. He wins. There are lots of folks in America that have money they don't count because it doesn't end. Hard for us "unwashed" to comprehend having not been there. Good on 'em. Joe
I’ve reached the age where (1) I’m actually happy, rather than just being jealous, that other people have that kind of money to spend on items like that, and (2) on these auction sites, NOTHING surprises me. Ho hum…

Those things have a surprisingly strong almost cult-like following. Plus nickel is pretty rare. It's still too much money but I'm not terribly surprised by it. I noticed it was also a California pistol, that tends to be an expensive market.

That went way beyond shill bidding. Unless it had provenance to Sofia Loren, that price is nuts. I predict it will be relisted due to a non-paying bidder by the end of the week.

The nice condition nickel BDA's have been pushing into the low teens, but that's a lot of money...plus sales tax, shipping and transfer.
That being said, if you have plenty of money and want a NIB nickel BDA from thirty-four years ago...what's an extra grand?

Last year I sold a Browning BDA (Sig P220 version) in 38 Super for considerably more than what that Beretta went for. It was in ANIB condition. The prices on the Italian 380's are all over the place, but the nickel ones do bring more.
