Bucket of Bullets????

Those are the "Golden Bullets" the S&W Owners Manual says not to use.

Uh, that's not quite what S&W says. The manual says not recommended. Lots of folks are shooting Remingtons with no problems.

Is there anyone who seriously believes S&W actually tested all the ammo listed? Not me.

My advice is to try it; either it will work just fine or it won't.

As of late, Remington's 22 golden bullet ammo is of very poor quality. I bought 10,000 rounds when I was a dealer back in the 90's. I bought 5,000 two or three years ago on sale at Big 5 for $10 per 500. The older stuff shoots every time no matter what gun I use. The newer stuff fails to fire about one in 15 or 20. I'm going to give the newer stuff as Christmas presents to people I don't like. My .02, Rod

It has been my experience over the years to avoid Remington rimfire ammo like the plague. It is highly unreliable and inconsistent.

I tried a box of the golds. One box was enough. Maybe it was a bad batch but I looked today and the golds have " new and improved" on the box, so I guess the old stuff was problematic enough to change.

I primarily use federal bulk in my 15-22 but sometimes the gun shop is out so I've ended up using a few boxes of the rem golden bullet and I haven't had any problems with the ammo other than your typical primer problems with .22lr ammo. My 15-22 isn't very picky when comes to ammo :)

Remington Ammo

Out of the 45 or so guys who shoot our tac match twice a month, the majority shooting the 15-22, I don't believe I've seen 5 boxes of REM ammo. The ones I have seen using it have had the most malfunctions. Federal, CCI and Blazer is what I see used most. Hey Major, 10 pounds of unusable should hold a door open.

i've had good luck with the " golden bullets." over the years. shot them in many different firearms. maybe just lucky ? .22's are famous for being finicky about ammo. hth.

Worst 22 ammo I have ever used. Here were my issues

1. Ridiculously dirty
2. Highly inconsistent loads
3. Fail to fire even after 2 or 3 strikes
4. Fail to feed because the bullet was to wide and over the brass casing
5. Fail to eject on my marlin only bullet ever fail to eject.

Other things I notice the bullets were inconsistent in shape and many were very loose in the case. When I shot them I could hear and fell the massive differences in powder loads.

Now if you talk to Remington they have admitted that those bullets suck and they have released "new and improved" golden bullets, I have not tried them I will stick to federal, cci and Winchester 555 for now.

At my local Walmart(s), this is $18.97:

So, let's assume that sales tax and shipping will cancel each other out. For $56.91 I can buy 1650 rounds of ammunition that I know will work well in my rifle, or I can pay $3.08 more for 250 fewer rounds of a brand that many people have problems with.
Sounds like a basic math test to me.

Dug some GB out of my stash a year or so ago. Bang-click-bang-phfftt-click-bang.
Called Rem. got a return tag. They replied they tested a sample of the remainer of the brick and it met their specs and worked OK. '
Sent a check for $30 to buy more ammo............I bought Federal Bulk.
