All expense paid training for a pilot group of 24 teachers/educators.

Concrete action addressing necessary security measures in Ohio instead of the "let's take-guns-from-good-people-so-somehow-bad-people-will-stop-acting-bad" hand-wringing rhetoric found elsewhere - I like that a lot.

Unfortunately I do not think this works unless we can somehow change the law. You still could not legally carry the gun on campus? I do like the idea though, its a start.

Update

Today's Columbus Dispatch reported that more than 450 teachers and school employees have applied for the 24 spots.

The Ohio Revised Code allows school boards to give individuals written authorization to carry a gun on school grounds.

Good job Blujax. The media only likes to show one side of the story, or if they do cover our side we come off as kooks. But having substantial numbers of people seek the training puts paid to the notion that citizens are incapable of defending themselves and others. Kudos to those teachers, I know that most of their union leaders and administrators are definitely on the other side of the argument.
