bulging barrel

hello everyone! i have a 29-3 with a 6 inch barrel nickel plated my question is. right of the magnum word and left of the smith word. i feel a bulg in the barrel. but visualy you can not see it. what could cause this? or is this normal? appresiate all opinions.

Hi, I doubt it is anything. It is probably an imperfection. If the barrel was truly bulged. You would be able to see it...And take a picture of it. The 44 barrel is very very strong. Unless you are using such a hot load that is damaging the barrel. But I seriously doubt that..

A squib load followed by another round could definately bulge the barrel. This may or may not affect it's performance.

What Panama Jack said, in spades. If it was a bulge from firing a round after a prior shot squibbed and stuck a bullet as 20 nickels suggests you wouldn't have any question if the barrel was bulged!

Look down the barrel with a light. If this has happened there will be a very obvious circumferential shadow seen.

Check the bore with a light, you can usually see a bulge. You'll also feel a decrease in resistance pushing a tight fitting patch thru.
