Thanks for the help

Interesting reading for my education. I also enjoyed the few diversions and demos, and the applicable responses.

Key learnings so far: dilute the Alox with a little mineral spirits. My supply of LA was a second hand bottle obtained about 5 years ago at a yard sale with oodles of reloading components I bought as a lot and at a price I am ashamed to mention. Yes, it is thick and gooey and very brown, and I had to dig it out with a screw driver. I plan to wash all my bullets in MS and hang them out to dry on wax paper before proceeding further.

Second, less alox is better than more alox.

Third: I've ordered a new bottle of alox before processing my 10 lb. load of Lee TL148 WC for use in my 52-2.

Again, thanks for the help.

"I noticed a liberal coating of the lube on the base surface of the bullet."

You're using way too much lube. For 100 bullets the amount I use is measured in drops.

(I powder coat but, if you ask me, lubing still has it's place. It's quick and easy. PC seems to be less accurate.)

I agree with pretty much everything already posted. Namely, 1. the excess lube will not affect the powder charge, 2. you are using too much but don't feel bad, everyone does at first, and, 3. thinning the LLA with mineral spirits will make it a lot easier to avoid that. Oh and 4. These forums are just full of experts who like to hijack threads and change the subject to whatever lets them expound all their wisdom on the shooting world. Not quite a troll, but almost as annoying. It could be worse, I would rather encounter them here than on the range.
