OK so i dont know if this is normal but i took a picture to show the problem. I went to the range two weeks ago to fire my Shield 9mm. I just went to shoot about 100 rounds. 50 Remington UMC and 50 Magtech 115 grain bullets.
A total of 5 bullets out of 100 rounds shot had did not fire, 3 remington and 2 Magtech.
Should i be worried?
If those are firing pin strikes, you have a pistol with a potentially dangerous problem. Call S&W immediately and ask for a shipping label for warranty repair.
Because a picture is worth a thousand words, when you call, tell them you have seriously off-center primer hits and offer to email them your picture while on the phone with the customer service person. They will probably tell you it is not necessary and offer you a shipping label.
Have them email the label to you - it arrives quicker. Be sure you get their email address and add S&W to your contact list so the shipping label does not go to your spam folder causing you to think it was never sent.
Be sure to print and send the picture in the box with the pistol when you send it back. Also, send a simple letter of instructions along with your name, address and day phone or cell number in case the technician needs to call you. Tell them to fix the off-center primer hit issue and to check out the entire pistol and your magazines and repair or make any other adjustments necessary to bring the pistol and magazines to current, new specs.
Keep your shipping receipt and tracking number so you can log on to FedEx and find out when your pistol is delivered. Keep your serial number. If you have to call S&W, that is how they track it in the factory - with the serial number, they can tell you what department it is in - receiving, repair, the particular technician, test-fire, shipping, etc.
Keep all the stuff that came with your pistol in a zip lock bag until your pistol arrives back. Repeat, do NOT send back anything except the pistol and the magazines that came with it. Keep your papers and everything else that came with it at home.
Use the box your pistol came in to send in your pistol - naturally the gun's box should be securely packed in another cardboard box with suitable packing material and properly sealed.
