I'm considering trying some Bullseye in my .38 Special loads. I've been relying on Win 231/HP-38, but I'm really bothered by the wide variations in load data. Will Bullseye meter well in the Lee Auto Disk?

I've heard/read that it does. I use Unique through the not-pro autodisk and it works fine, once you find the right disk.

Should do right well for 38's. Bullseye is (relatively) small flakes. Unless you are down to the miniscule amounts commonly referred to as "mouse-fart" wadcutters, I would think NO PROB!

Have you tried their micrometer-adjustable charge-bar? I have one, and now almost NEVER use the disks.

I've loaded 1000's of rounds with Bullseye from 2.2 grains (.32 ACP) on up through a Pro Auto Disk meter with no trouble. .38 Special should be no problem.

I have had problems with Unique below about 5 grains - bridging of the large powder granules in the smaller disk holes can cause squibs.

Yes, it meters very well as does HP 38, Power Pistol, HS6, Win Auto Comp. Much better than Unique and other flaky powders.

I don't know why you are having trouble with HP38 and the PAD. Yesterday I sat down to load, assembled the turret in the press, attached the PAD, filled it with HP38, inserted a case, sized and primed, flared and dropped powder. Oops, forgot to turn on the measure! Turned it on, ran the case into the measure die again, dumped the powder in the scale pan. Exactly the 5.0gn I expected. Also weighed the second thru fifth loads, then every tenth load, and the last one. All were spot on. I NEVER have a variance of any more than the width of the markers on my scale.

I haven't had any problem with the PAD and HP-38, it always works fine. I was just looking into using BE and I appreciate all the replies.

I use 2.7 grain of Bullseye under 148 grain DEWC alot. My Lee Auto Disk drops spot on every time. Just picked up 500 158 grain SWC and will be working up a plinking load this weekend. The auto disks are on a Pro 1000 (hand prime with a RCBS) and a Classic Cast Turret.

Sorry, misread your question. Yes, data for HP38/231 does seem to differ from bullet to bullet. I'm going to stick with it though, as I like the fact that it will flow through the eye of a needle.;)

Trying to remember off the top of my head, but I think I use 3.0g of Bullseye in my .38s. I use the Pro Auto Disk and it works great.
