Hey Y'all!

I've been recently reloading a lot of 148gr LHBWC for bullseye matches at the club. I'm also reloading and shooting a lot of 158gr LRNBB for IDPA and Steel shoots.

What is your opinion on the following idea...

Stop loading the 148gr HBWC and consolidate onto the 158gr LRN only for Bullseye, IDPA, and Steel.

Would I really be giving up much accuracy/download ability by cutting out the 148gr LHBWC.

Just pondering.

Not a good idea if you're serious about bullseye, because while the service load is legal in bullseye, it is needlessly powerful. Remember, bullseye rules require one-handed shooting with a time limit.

IDPA/SSR .38 with a 158gr bullet requires a mild +P to make the required power factor.

This assumes you are actually shooting with sanctioned rules in both sports. All too many clubs are using the Bullseye and IDPA names and shooting who-knows-what rules.

If you are using the same gun it does pose a problem with POA/POI using two differant loads. The thing I like about using HBWCs' for Bullseye is how light I can charge them and the nice clean holes they cut. Using 2.5grs bullseye powder gives me just over 700fps in my 6" gun and almost no recoil to speak of. Even if you load one lighter for Bullseye and the other hotter for IDPA/Steel it will have differant points of impact in the same gun. If are using two differant guns and want to load just the 158LRN I'd load one down around 3grs and the other closer to 4grs for IDPA/steel.
