So I have pretty much decided to go with Bushnell's TRS-25 red dot sight. My question is do I need the HiRise version or not?

Hi-rise model gives you lower 1/3 co-witness with the iron sights.

Without any riser, it would be very difficult to get your eye low enough to align with the sight tube and see the red dot.

I have the Magpul MBUS sights. Does that make any difference?

The trs 25 is a neat sight and has the brightness dial at an angle where it is easy to see. The high rise gives 1/3 co witness as indicated above however I removed the mount and replaced it with a QD mount just a little taller giving a nice center hold. Daytime will require one of the higher brightness settings.

The Amazon.com UTG risers work great. The high rise gives you lower 1/3 and the medium gives you a true co-witness. I have the MBUS as well. My riser had a thumb screw on the side so I didn't need any tools to remove or replace at the range.

TRS-25 are great, affordable red dot. Especially for a .22lr build. have one on my dedicated AR 22 (that takes M&P 22 magazines) on the medium UTG riser. If memory serves it is .83" riser model RS08S3.

Absolute copwitness with Magpul BUIS. I like that!
