The first of many I'm afraid. It's a 442-2. Sorry for the crapy picture. Any advice on ammo or just some do's and don'ts please chime in.

Shoot it a lot. Carry it a lot.

Hi, congrats and welcome to the forum...Nice starter piece to throw in your pocket and go....I use Speer Gold dot Law Enforcement ammunition for short barrel revolvers .38+p 135gr. GDHP stock #53921. They make it for several calibers.. It feels like shooting regular 158 gr. ammo and gives ou the performance much better than your standard .38 special round.

Dry fire, dry fire, dry fire. And when everything comes together smooth as silk, dry fire some more.

I'm starting to like my 642 more and more.

Welcome to the addiction!

Yep, get some range time now.

And congrats on your purchase, very good gun.

For carry I like the Cor Bon 110 grain DPX ammo. It has less felt recoil to me than the Speer GD 135 grain short barrel, and the Remington 158 grain LSWCHP ammos. Some orange paint on the front sight might help, or even an action job. First shoot it, and see how it works for you. For the range I like the standard pressure 130 grain ammo, since it doesn't recoil as much as the 158 grain stuff. Good luck with the gun.

Thanks all for your great response. I'm loving this S&W 442. I've got a Desantis pocket holster and a set of crimson trace grips. Here's a new picture, sorry no lamp or phone this time, but you'll get a look at my 42" Sony.

Oh and my wife loves it too.

Since you asked for do's and don'ts I always recommend unloading a gun when waving it around in the house taking pictures.
