I was searching Sigmas and M&Ps on Gunbroker and Gunsamerica and came across a large number of 5906 L.E. trade ins. I remember these guns as being pretty durable in their day, and also the best looking 9mm I'd ever handled.

For the price of $420 for a 5906 w/2 mags on GunsAmerica would you guys say stay away or decent deal?

These guns are still available for $319-339. May only have one mag.
Mags, which were once cheap and plentiful, are harder to find and cost more.
Do a search on this forum for 5906 and you will turn up the websites of some dealers. Summit used to have bunches of them, but are out now. J&G or CDNN may still have a few.

Expensive

Yes I believe $420 plus shipping and FFL to receive it is too much however they are deffently well built all steel handguns. I would pass on them . However the ones at Centerfire Systems for $340 sounds good

I picked up the lighter weight 5903 for $325 with two mags a while back because I wanted another 9 mm shooter. It's light weight makes it a good carry gun but the 5906 would also be nice to have. The police turn-ins can be anywhere from mint to very rough. Most are carried a lot and shot a little.

Bought one on GB a couple weeks ago for $384 shipped. Better condition than I expected, pretty nice, actually. Paid a little more because it had (they claimed) working night sights. They might work in a coal mine during a power-failure, but no time else. Trying to get a couple extra mags out of them. No way this old gal is ever going to wear out.

That's a high price, sniff around on gunbroker. I snagged this 5946 for $250. 2 mags and in great condition. I'd say high $2xx - low/mid $3xx can be had

Centerfire SYstems

I bought my 5906 from Centerfiresystems.com 339.00 with a single mag.

It was third gen, though they had some 1st and 2nd.

I am not unhappy with the price. I shot a 30 rd group recently and this fun head shot at 21 feet as quick as the range would allow.

The 6906 was acquired covered in melted foam, and dry as a bone left in the desert. Some TLC and now its a daily carry.

PS Apologize for the phone images, sad really when my 12mp Kodak was only out in the car.

This 3906 was advertised as being in "Very Good" condition, and it is at least that.

Great gun and dependable. The agency I retired from used the 5906's for transport of prisoners and the S&W model 15's for security on the outside of the prisons. Those that were not qualified for the 5906 carried the model 15s. The price on gunbroker is way too much. look around and you can find them for around the low 300's. I know it is hard to check for loose breach when buying on line but ask the seller if the gun has a tight breach. If not, you will pay the piper and it will become worse as time goes by which is also unsafe. Hope that helps.
