Buying M&P Sear??

I did a custom trigger job on my Shield. I ground down the trigger bar ramp on the sear. I need a stock sear to keep incase i have to return it for warrentee purposes. Does anybody know where to get one?? The only way i found one, is included in a sear block and all websites are backordered.

I think the sears are pretty much interchangeable so I would contact gunsmiths that do trigger jobs on m&P's. Then may have a supply source of them.

check out Brownells or Midway. Sears are all the same for 9/40 and will fit shield. The trigger assemblies for 9/40 and trigger block fit the shield also.

Yes I have tried both websites but both are out of stock for at least a couple more weeks

So i called S&W today and they told me that they cant sell a sear to a non-factory trained gunsmith. So i went to my LGS and asked them if they would order me one. It would cost me an extra $35 to do the paper work plus the price of the sear block. Starting to get expensive for me now. Ive decided to wait till 7/20 (hopefully) for Midway to get them back into stock. Ive been watching for the non mag saftey verson to come back into stock for my buddys gun for quite some time and everytime i look on Midway the in-stock date is about a month later than the last time i looked. So hopefully on 7/20 the standard one will b there for me. If anybody has any more ideas im all ears

Keep checking with Brownells also. Thirty shipping will be 7.50 for a small part Midway always has ripped me on shipping. Good luck.

Just an update, I talked w a cop friend of mine who carries an M&P .40 FS while on duty. He told me to go to ShooterSpecialties.com I did and found one of the best M&P parts website!!

Yeah I guess they said bc the sears are only suppose to be sold to a trained gunsmith and not a diesel mechanic they will need to do paperwork for liability reasons

First the LGS is trying to rip you off. I bought the Apex kit, so I could always have the stock parts if needed. Go to the S&W website, you can order the whole sear assembly for the M&P 9c for around $31. The sear for the Shield is the same as the other M&P's. Not sure about the whole sear assembly, but you can just remove the sear. The Shield assembly might be smaller. The S&W website states:

Replacement parts and accessories for your Smith & Wesson firearm are available from your local Smith & Wesson Stocking Dealer, or directly from the Smith & Wesson Parts Department.

When ordering parts directly from the factory, please provide the following information:

•Model Number
•Dash Number

The sear comes with the sear housing assy and you can't buy it directly from S&W, it's stated clear in the parts manual you already post. Those parts are *=Restricted to factory trained armourers but you can get the whole housing from Midway, Speed Shooters Specialties or Brownells (be carefull because there are three different housings, first standard with MD, second with MD and IL and third without both MD and IL)

Yeah I called Smith awhile back and they refused to sell the sear housing to me due to it being a liability.

I had the same situation as you, modified my sear and wanted to have one as spare, as solution just bought one sear housing block from Midway.

Yeah midway got a shipment about a month ago. I received an email from them in the morning that they got them in. I got home from work and tried to order them and they were out of stock by then. That's why I'm pretty excited about finding ShooterSpecialties.com. They make their own stock replacement and their suppose to be stronger than the stock sear. I picked up a couple replacement sears. Also they have dummy sears for a few $$ that have not been heat treated. This allowed you to fine tune your trigger on a cheap part, in case you screw up!

I was going to buy the sear from speedshootersecialty but it was at $30ish and decided to buy the whole sear housing from Midway for 10 bucks less.

Sorry not trying to steer you wrong. Did not read that the S&W parts manual has an * next to some parts that say "factory installed only". S&W won't sell the sear assembly, but there is no asterick next to the striker assembly ??? I have never purchased from S&W. I have only purchased from Midway and Brownells for S&W parts..

ATEI makes sears that are AWESOME .. where Chris Costa na dseveral of the top trainers are now sending their M&P's and Glocks for work.

Most of the above posts reinforce my decision to purchase a Apex sear and keep the original in the gun box. Same for the striker block. It is usually much easier to get aftermarket parts than factory stock.
