Happy Friday, everyone!

Does anyone know if a C&R holder can (legally, of course) ship a C&R handgun to a gunsmith for work/rework by any method other than Fed Ex or UPS next-day air? Is USPS shipping permitted when a C&R ships TO a smith for repairs? Can the smith ship it back to the C&R hiolder via USPS?

TIA,

If you do a search on this board, or do a search of the postal regulations you will find that USPS shipping of handguns is only allowed between dealers. A C&R is not a dealer, therefore you cannot use the USPS to ship a handgun anywhere (legally).

I normally use FedEx next day saver. It may also be cheaper for you to pay an FFL holder to do the shipping for you, they can use USPS.

Thanks, Bob R.

I thought that was probably the case. I knew about the USPS prohibition regarding a C&R holder shipping to a buyer or receiving from a seller, but wasn't sure about sending a C&R handgun off for repairs.

Thanks also for the suggestion regarding FedEx next day saver.

I appreciate the info,
