How would a C&R license ship a modern pistol to a gunsmith?

This question comes up over and over. Has anyone ever been asked what was in a Flat Rate Priority Mail box that costs a little over $20?

Yes I have while the U.S.P.S. was in the midst of looking for a lost in transit Priority Mail package to me from a friend. Three weeks from start to finish.

I never got a clear answer what was reason for the delay as it showed up in the original box albeit beat up and retaped. Both my local P.O. And the originating P.O. were involved. Whatever happened to it occurred at the regional hub, I assume that the package got x-rayed and the postal inspectors got involved due to the item being shipped, a section of “pipe” that would look suspicious under those circumstances.

The “pipe” was a section of a brass fire pole that was removed from my old F.D. I imagine that if that was the scenario it caused a few anxious moments until they saw it was a hollow tube.
