Wife made a big pot of cabbage and tater soup with celery and carrots. Sure makes the house fill with soup smell ... hmmm ... and it goes down good too!

What your home made soup for this weather?

Well its not soup but I like cabbage or sauerkraut fried in with my home fried potatos.

My son's mother was the worst cook imaginable. I didn't know if she was making soup or just heating dirty dishwater.

My girlfriend (we've been together almost 12 years) is the exact opposite. Whatever she makes is delicious. If I ask her what is in it, she'll simply say that she just threw some things together. I think her soup with turkey, rice, carrots, potatoes, & onions is what I like the best.

My daughter made cabbage soup and mexican cornbread last night. It was great. I guess she can cook after all!

Collard green and ham soup - usually the last act for a Smithfield ham ...... greens, celery, onions, bacon, chicken stock, ham, diced potatoes, heavy cream, and lots of coarsely ground black pepper. It's great on a cold day, and ages very nicely in the fridge ..........!

Pea soup. I might just make some today. I've got a good sized leftover hamhock in the freezer.

corned beef soup. A can of corned beef, potatoes cut in bite sized pieces, cut up onion, salt&pepper. Usually a dash of Louisiana Hot sauce in my bowl. I always eat it with corn pone( made with plain corn meal and water, baked in oven.) Love it on cold days.

I like potato, bean, or venison burger with cabbage soup. Unfortunately, I haven't had any venison burger in a long while, so lean ground beef is substituted. It's one of my favorites. Burger, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, barley, etc. Had a picture of it at one time, but can't find it now. I'll have to take another one next time I make a pot.

Quick & easy soup. chop a little ham up (tbsp) a little onion (tbs) brown in pot w/ little oil. put in a can of white beans and half a can of chicken broth. Thicken with a teaspoon or so of potato flakes-voila-Senate Bean soup Feel free to add whatever else you think might make it taste good.

The wife's mother saved left over vegies during the week. Her father threw it all into a stockpot when there were enough to make soup - Tony made good soup (and chile). It was at their table I first saw leftover white rice added to soup ... I want to learn to make soup like that.
