Today I stopped by my "Local" Cabela's in Allen, TX just to blow a half an hour or so perusing the guns. I hit the "Gun Library" to see what high dollar goodies they've gotten in since I'd been in last.

They had a bunch of nice Shotguns etc... but once display case caught my eye. "S&W Registered Magnum"

It was there with a Letter from Roy Jinks stating it had been shipped to Wolf and Klar in Ft. Worth TX 1936. Price? $3400. (Just wanted to let any of you DFW Reg. Mag aficionado's know that a pretty nice local one is up at Cabela's!) Sadly I didn't have my phone with me to snap a pic.

Saddened that I currently don't have the funds for such a grail gun, I slowly started over towards the "Used" section where I'm a little more at home.

As I started to look in the used gun counter, I spy a K-22 Masterpiece in the way way way back of the counter looking very lonely. When I saw the price I damn near had a heart attack!

The price? $425.00!!! After checking if there was anything mechanically wrong with the gun to warrant such a low price (there wasn't, she's in immaculate mechanical shape!) I almost blew out my rotator cuff getting my wallet out.

I just want to say that it's thanks to this forum and all the amassed knowledge here that I was able to realize what an amazing piece of history was staring me right in the face. Three years ago I would of skipped right on by this baby without even thinking twice!

Here are the pics for yall, they're pretty crappy due to it being dark outside right now, but hey I just got it home! If I had to guess I'd say bluing is 75-80%, grips don't look original to me but at least they're Magna's. Lock-up, timing and the barrel are all 100%.

S/N: K 85206

Again, thanks to this forum and its all of its members and good hunting!

You can't beat a k22!!

Nice pickup, she looks like a real nice shooter. Go shoot 10,000 more rounds or so and it will be broken in.

Very nice find. I've been looking for one myself and I would be thrilled to find one in that condition for that price.

Enjoy your new addition.

For being a Big-Box Store, This Cabela's had a pleasant amount of used revolvers; Couple of nice Model 10's and about 5-8 Pony's. I like to support my Mom and Pop LGS as much as I can, but every now and then I tend to stray. ;)

Ya done good, boy... ya done real good! :D

I'm not even looking for a K-22 right now and that one would still have followed me home. Enjoy!

Can't beat the good ole K22 and K38 for fun plinking/target shooting and small game hunting. And it makes a darn nice treasured collectible too. Personally all my collectible guns double as shooters because I never buy anything with the intention of collecting only.

You know what they say... betcha ya can't have just one! By the way, based on the serial number, that fits within the 1950 range of manufacture.

Nice find! You're not going to believe this, but the family and I drove right past this store on Hwy 75, and she said "are you sure you don't want to stop and look?" Enjoy!

Murph,

Eerie thing was, I'd just come from two other local shops, one had a nice Model 53, the other a dandy Model 17. Must of had the .22 Fairy following me today!

Since no one else commented about the stocks I'll confirm your thoughts as they would likely be the Magnas with the diamond around the escutcheons for the screw. The stocks you have are a little younger than the revolver!
Its always tough for me to pass one of these up and you have a nice shooter. You may enjoy it more if you are able to locate a set of target stocks for it to wear unless you have small hands. At any rate enjoy your great purchase!

Smith,

Appreciate the conformation on the Magnas! Quite frankly at the price they were selling it it could have had Goodyears on it and I'd still be grinnin'.

All in all the lack of Diamond Magna's probably help put this gun into my "Holy **** I have to buy this now!" price range.
