Two days sneaux bound in my house and I was ready to shoot the wife!
First day was absolutely magical and I would briefly go outside just to soak in a once in a lifetime experience. Second day it was over-sunshine and a pot-full of sneaux with no place to go. Decided to risk going to the office to extend the court closure through Thursday since it was clear nobody would be able to make it to court. Slipped on a patch of ice and came down HARD on my right side and am now waiting to get into an orthopaedic urgent care. Worst part is I had to cancel a duck hunt since my right shoulder is really hurting. Hope that all I will need is some PT. Also bounced the back of my head off the concrete pretty hard which worried me a lot as I had a friend that died be hitting his head after an icy fall. Made myself stay up and had my wife continually check me to make sure no signs of concussion or subdural hematoma as there was no way to get to the ER what with the roads all sneauxed in. As y'all can see, no brain/head injury but the shoulder really hurts. What really pisses me off is that this injury was caused by a leaky overhang which allowed the water to pool forming the ice that our mayor had promised to fix back in August-had even had a contractor come out and got an estimate and then decided it was too expensive so told me to fix it myself with court funds (which as I pointed out to him was illegal).
So I expect it will get quite ugly Monday when that sniveling little pissant gets back to his office as he is not returning my phone calls.

Caj, the wife says you still need to have yourself checked out. A friend died in the same manner from a slow bleed over time.

I'd like to be a fly on that wall. Time for some 'lawyer stuff'. The city probably has liability insurance.

You'll heal up...
A $lip and fall injury due to the mayors inaction?
Medial bills, lost wages, pain and suffering...
Sounds like you need a good 1-800 lawyer!

Those falls are nasty. Thought I was ok after the last one and didn’t even realize my glasses were missing until the next day. They were ten feet from where I landed

Workers Comp. But you can bet yer backside I'm gonna put a bug in the ear of the insurance agent who handles the city's insurance and I guarantee that they will have a talk with the mayor about his documented inaction putting the insurance company on the hook for a comp and possible liability claim that would have never happened if he had fixed the damn overhangs.

They'll claim No Fault since you were off the clock

Nope! I am not on any clock. As long as I was doing legitimate job related business at my place of business, I am covered. Lots of case law on that. And if this is not considered a comp claim, I have a GREAT personal injury claim which means I can get pain and suffering thrown in together with mental anguish as I had to cancel a duck hunt due to my shoulder.
But it IS getting a lot better and I am hoping it's just bruising and not something serious that might require surgical intervention. Despite outward appearances, I'm not interested in hospitals and surgical procedures to inflate claims. I just want people to do their jobs and fix hazards as I was lucky this time. And as my wife said, You shoulda have stayed home, your job is not as important as you risking your health-you are not as bullet proof as you think.....really can't argue with her on that one.
But the mayor is still a sniveling little peckerwood.

I knew that as well as I'm sure your only agenda is to get it done despite the picayune nature of the peckerwoods.
I recall leaving the plant in my personal ride to grab some groceries for the unexpected evening shift I covered. Upon returning I was informed I was considered off the clock in the event an unforeseen occurence or accident rendered harm to myself or others.
In other words getting plowed under in the city truck was golden.
