Caliber conversion

Yes I do realize this is the smith& wesson forum but my "itch" drove me crazy to buy a new revolver.

I had a question to ask and thought you might have the answer. I have a USFA in 32-20 and can not find a 327 cylinder to use in it. I was wondering if it would be possible to straight line bore it out and put in a sleeve that would be usable for 327? Does that make sense? The bottom of the 32-20 is wider but the top is the same width as the 32 (I think)

Or could a chamber adapter be made to insert and loctited in place?

Plan B, buy a 45 colt cylinder and make a chamber adapter for the 327?

One way or the other I want to make this work. Oh I have a second USFA that the company made a 327 cylinder for, the lazy turkeys would not make a second.

Give Hamilton Bowen a call and discuss it with him. He has been very active in creating "real" .327 Magnum revolvers.

I contacted Mr Bowen and Mr Clements, neither would make a USFA cylinder so I am trying to come up with another solution.

See if they will sell you a smaller caliber cylinder. Then any gunsmith should be able to drill and ream it to any caliber you want..... ANY, good single action gun builder should be able to make you a cylinder.. Worse case, get a blank cylinder and get it chambered to your liking..

I have a Uberti .44-40 cylinder that was a drop-in fit to my .44 Special USFA SAA.

You may be able to find a .22 LR or .32 H&R Magnum Uberti cylinder that will fit your revolver.

Contact Alan Harton in Houston. He will do it and do it well. I own many customs that Alan has built (along with a couple of Bowen's, a Stroh and a Clements) and he easily rides if not exceeds "the best".

I found a USFA cylinder in 22 caliber six shot full size version. Do you think the cylinder would work in the 32-20 and cycle properly. If so, then I could get it reamed to 32 caliber?
