Bill Watterson is a genius.
There have been some GREAT comic strips....
B.C., Peanuts, Dilbert (when I was working at least), The Wizard of Id, Hagar the Horrible. All of these had a few that really slayed me, but none of them have hit home as consistently as Calvin and Hobbes.
When I first saw Calvin and Hobbes, I thought it was stupid. I mean what kid has a tiger for a pet? When I realized that Hobbes was really a stuffed toy, it hit me. This is GREAT!!!!
And even then, the more I read, the more I was taken by it.
The Killer Snow Goons, Spaceman Spiff, G.R.O.S.S. and 'hating' Susie Derkins even though he secretly wants 'smooches' by proxy from Hobbes.
And I agree with Bill Watterson that comics USED TO BE in glorious color, and BIG!
Now it's my favorite comic strip of all time.

Bill Watterson drew his last syndicated comic on Dec 31, 1995. Fred clipped it from the Raleigh News and Observer and had it framed.
It now hangs in my bedroom.

Remember when all the sports fans had a sticker of Calvin peeing on whatever team or driver they hated? I was a Jeff Gordon fan and I had one peeing on #3. My wife was Redskins fan and had one peeing on the Cowboys.
