Came back to M&P from Glock.

Different strokes for different folks. It seems a majority of pistol shooters believe in the Glock mantra, and it certainly holds true.

But it is also nice to have choices. There are definitely some advantages to Glocks, including ubiquitous everything, but they never felt "right" to me. I've never owned one. Bought a couple to give as gifts.

I like my M&P full size pistols just fine, and the Shield for certain carry times.

I've got more Glock's than M&P semi's, but the gap is closing :).

If you include the S&W revolvers, pretty close!!

But I do like the new G43 in a compact 9mm, maybe as much or more as the Shield 9, jury is still out on that! YMMV

Yup... If there were one true 'Best Firearm', all the rest would fold up their tents and disappear.

While I really enjoy my Shield, for both range and carry, I do still like my G19 and XDMc too. :)
No Cool-aid about it.

Agreed, no-cool aid about it....I own and carry both the M&P & Glock pistols and would bet my life on either brand..

Why do so many try to make the Glock or the M&P, one or the other better by knocking the other??... I get liking or preferring one to the other based on feel or shoot ability specific to that person. But to say one ore the other is a bad product or to say someone drank the cool-aid is foolish.

My full size M&P 9 and my Shield 9 make for a nice combo. However, I'm tempted by the 9c over the Shield for increased capacity and magazine compatability with the full size M&P.

Glocks are obviously excellent, but they don't point as naturally for me as the M&P line of pistols does.

Years ago I went into the LGS and they wouldn't sell me the 9C because of the tendency of the 9c to drop magazines. So I bought the G26. Never liked it. The Gen4 G19 is a whole 'nuther animal.

I never have can wrap my hands around. A glock in any caliber. Got Springfields rugers smiths kel tecs and yes even a Taurus. Wheel gun. No questions glocks are awesome guns but none fit me to the point of buying one to date. Where talking 32,380,38,9mm.40,&45.

I just bought a Shield to go with my other M&P's and before even shooting it came across this video...speaking of coming back from Glock.

I cant wait to shoot mine.

I think it was around 2007-08 that I fired my first M&P, a 40. Being a die-hard Glock shooter up until then, I was impressed how much quicker I could recover on target. Plus, the lackbif trigger reset did not bother me a bit. I bought my M&P 45 a few months later, and now carry a FS9 & 9c. I still have a couple of Glocks, including a Gen 4 26, but prefer the S&Ws. The M&Ps have had their quirks, but so do Glocks, and anynkther brand.

Congrats on the new Shield,

The Shield is a very accurate little pistol if you have the shooting skills. Ah with that being said so is the Glock. It boils down to personal preference at the end of the day and both are fine weapons.

I shoot both my Glock 27 and my M&P Shield 9mm effectively and both are dead on accurate. The Glock is thicker has a little more recoil being a 40 cal. The Shield is thinner less felt recoil being a 9mm, if my Glock was a 9mm the recoil would be less to be fair. As said both guns are dead on accurate.

Folks should shoot and carry what feels good to them. Also a weapon that they can afford and one they can handle well be it an M&P, Glock or any other brand.

I love my M&P Shield I also love my Glock both great pistols, pick your medicine for your own reasons. I carry one or the other daily everyday of my life.

Also your guy in the video when handling the pistol needs to keep his finger off the the trigger until ready to shoot. He likes to have it inside that trigger guard when holding or showing the pistol ( kinda a bad habit ya think)

Target below Shield 9mm shot a CCW training class shooting distances, speed drills. Yes the M&P Shield is a very accurate pistol.

I sold off all my Glocks after acquiring a SIG! Now I have mostly SIG's, a far superior weapon in my opinion.

Bi-Ownership

I own two Glocks (sold a third) and a .45 M&P. Which gun to prefer is largely a matter of personal preference and how the gun fits you. I think the M&P fits my hand a bit better but I find that this gun is somewhat sensitive to improperly seated primers or perhaps hard primers. The Glock seems to have more energy driving the striker so they always go bang.

If it positively absolutely must fire every time, I'm inclined to lean to my Glocks. In defense of the M&P, I've not had an issue with factory ammo. Owning the M&P has caused me to invest in, and take the steps necessary to uniform the primer pockets to insure properly seated primers each time. I attributed my last failure to fire with the M&P to a hard primer. The round fired on the second strike.

Use Federal Primers, they are supposed to be a very sensitive primer. I have light main springs in my Ruger GP 100's I use for competitive steel target shooting and eliminated any misfires using Federal Primers.

I have a lot of experience with Glocks - they are fantastic firearms, but I simply shoot M&P's better, which is why I switched. If S&W came out with the M&P in the 80s then it would be the Glock of the firearms world. Glock enjoys the benefits of being the early innovator and deserves the success.

Thankfully Glock's success led to the development of all of these great ploymer striker fired guns, and every shooter should be able to find one that fits them best.

I've never been led to Glock; some of the reason is just marketing stuff like I dont like the name Glock somehow. Then the marketing from them that made the biggest impression on me was "you can park your truck on it i a mud puddle and it will still fire"...just doesn't impress me but if I'm ever in the market for a gun I can park my truck on in a mud puddle, they're first on my list.

When I got my first semi-auto pistol bug, it was when I was cleaning a bunch of guns for a friend who stored them in a not so good place so there was rust to deal with. But he had a 1911 that I instantly fell in love with, studied up and found that Kimber had a lot of good press...longer story shorter I now own a half dozed Kimber's and love every one of them. Then I bought an M&P sight unseen and in less than 3 months have a half dozen of those now.

I love buying guns, there's no better entertainment that just keeps on entertaining... and every time I buy one, I keep busy doing a trigger job and a barrel lapping on it (except the Kimber's they come out of the box ready to go).

I swear my Shield is more accurate than both my full sizes. 8 shots, 7 yards, Winchester PDX 147gr
