Can an 8 shot cylinder be retrofitted to a M28-2?

I know almost anything is possible (with enough time and money), but is such a conversion economically feasible? My 28 is not a pristine original, so I thought a little customization might be in order. If it can be done reasonably, who can do it? Thanks.

If you mean an 8-shot cylinder like on a 627, the cylinder tubes won't line up with the firing pin hole on a 28.

This question has been asked before ref converting an M27. The answer is that the frame "window" is larger than on an M27, and no, an 8-shot cylinder will not fit.

The REAL "Problem" with this "Conversion" is that the chambers in the eight-shot cylinder are very SLIGHTLY further "Outside" of the cylinder's axis than on the six-shot cylinder--this was required to be able to "Squeeze" eight rounds of .357/.38 into the N-Frame cylinder. Even IF you managed to "Fit" an eight-shot "Wheel" to your Model 28, you would find that the chambers did not QUITE "Line Up" with the barrel's Forcing Cone.

I have a friend who tried kind of the REVERSE--he had a Model 627 cylinder from the six-shot "Model of 1989" and tried to fit it to a recent-production "Performance Center" 627--No-Go!!! Hope this helps. Paulie686.
