Time frame is right. IINM the caption of the photo said it was taken in 1979. I got my earth shoes in about 1977. Hey, what can I say? They went perfectly with my polyester leisure suit.

One of the top 5 most UNCOMFORTABLE shoes I've ever owned
I had a high school teacher who was just out of college in about 1977 who swore by Earth shoes. He claimed they were the most comfortable shoes ever. Also said the "negative" heel made more sense than a normal heel since it supposedly propelled you forward. We became friends, but I still don't buy his theory.
